Sebastian Stan Reflects on His Journey as Bucky Barnes in the MCU

In a recent interview, Sebastian Stan, renowned for his role as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, shared his thoughts on his extensive career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Stan first took on the character of Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger, portraying the faithful friend of Steve Rogers. Over time, Bucky’s evolution into a far more complex antihero was prominently showcased in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

For nearly a decade, Stan has built a remarkable portfolio within the MCU, contributing both to various feature films and to his significant role in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where he stars alongside Anthony Mackie, another familiar face from the franchise.

Gratitude for Growth and Support

During his appearance on The Late Night Show with Seth Meyers, Stan reflected on the personal and professional growth he has experienced throughout his journey with Marvel. He conveyed a deep sense of appreciation for the many years he has spent in the MCU, describing it as a transformative experience:

“It’s also humbling for me, you know? Because I’ve been able to be with them for close to 15 years now. I mean, I’ve grown up with Marvel; I grew as an actor and with this character. It’s like I have a brother, in a way, a family member I see for Thanksgiving every year. That’s how it feels, and they’re so supportive. And I think if I didn’t have them, honestly, I don’t know if I would’ve taken these chances. I’ve been lucky.”

Stan’s sentiments further illustrate the importance of the supportive network offered by the Marvel brand, which has contributed significantly to the actors’ willingness to explore their craft and take risks in their performances.
