  • The Season 2 update introduces a variety of new weapons, events, and features.
  • Significant enhancements to the anti-cheat system will bolster player security.
  • Ranked playlists will now allow greater crossplay options to mitigate aim-assist and cheating concerns.

Activision has officially announced the patch notes for the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 update, set to launch on January 28, 2025. This extensive update marks the first major change since the Season 1 Reloaded launch in early December, offering numerous updates, weapons, perks, and in-game events.

Key Updates in Season 2

Among the highlights is the introduction of the popular Terminator franchise crossover, featuring the Terminator Skull Drop event from February 6 to 20, where players can earn rewards through skull collection by eliminating opponents and opening caches. Moreover, players can partake in the Shadow Hunt event starting February 13, which includes completing a series of challenges provided by Nocturne.

A new Battle Pass will accompany this season, offering over 110 unlockable items including three new weapons (PPSh-41, Cypher 091, Feng 82, TR2), a Crossbow attachment, new Operator skins, and various Blueprints. Notably, a new Perk called Reactive Armor will regenerate up to 50% of armor if the player has not taken damage in the last five seconds and will be available as a reward during the event.

Anti-Cheat Enhancements

This update is particularly significant for its comprehensive changes to the RICOCHET anti-cheat system. Activision is deploying new measures focused on enhancing detection models for cheating behaviors like aim botting, as well as stricter monitoring of player accounts to target repeat offenders more effectively. This ongoing effort is supported by legal actions against cheat vendors and aims to provide a better gaming experience for all players.

Crossplay and Ranked Play Adjustments

A further upgrade is the more flexible crossplay options available in the Ranked playlists, allowing console players to selectively match against others on the same platform or across all platforms. This enhancement seeks to diminish the controversies surrounding aim assist and cheating within crossplay scenarios.
