Microsoft Expands Xbox Games on Battle.net with Sea of Thieves

In a significant move to enrich its gaming platforms, Microsoft is gradually migrating more Xbox titles to Blizzard’s Battle.net. This initiative positions Battle.net as a competitive alternative to the Microsoft Store and Steam for PC gamers. Following previous game releases like Avowed, Doom: The Dark Ages, and The Outer Worlds 2, the renowned multiplayer pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves, is set to join this expanding lineup.

Release and Early Access Details

Scheduled for release on May 22, Sea of Thieves will also feature distinct closed beta and Advanced Access opportunities for eager players. Currently, three editions of this multiplayer experience are available for pre-purchase, with the Deluxe and Premium versions granting access to an exclusive closed beta slated for May 2 through May 5.

For those interested in escaping to the seas a bit earlier, the Premium Edition offers six additional days of Advanced Access, opening up gameplay on May 16. This edition not only promises early access but also comes adorned with unique ship cosmetics inspired by popular Blizzard franchises such as Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and Hearthstone. Cross-Platform Play and Xbox Play Anywhere

In a bid to foster an inclusive gaming experience, Sea of Thieves will support cross-play functionality across multiple platforms including Battle.net, Steam, the Microsoft Store, Xbox, Game Pass, and PlayStation. Additionally, the game is enabled with Xbox Play Anywhere features on Battle.net, allowing players who already own the title on Xbox or through the Microsoft Store to access it without any additional cost. This extended benefit also applies to members of PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

As Microsoft continues to diversify its gaming ecosystem, the arrival of Sea of Thieves on Battle.net signals a promising trend for gamers seeking more options and flexibility in their gaming experience.
