Sea of Stars: Complete Guide to Throes of the Watchmaker Cooking Recipe Locations

Sea of Stars: Complete Guide to Throes of the Watchmaker Cooking Recipe Locations

It’s time for a confession: I’m a classic hoarder when it comes to video games. Throughout my JRPG adventures, I’ve held onto every elixir, ether, and even the elusive megalixir, never once using them. By the time I reach the final showdown, my inventory is overflowing with potent items that I ultimately never leverage—creating unnecessary difficulties for myself.

This tendency, however, didn’t serve me well in Sea of Stars, particularly in the challenging DLC, Throes of the Watchmaker. The difficulty ramp-up is staggering, forcing me to exhaust all my restorative items, which are represented as various food items in the game.

To ensure I could stock up on much-needed popcorn and ice cream, it became essential for me to master the culinary elements of this game. I needed to unlock recipes, as my Solstice Warriors were woefully unprepared in the kitchen—especially when it came to circus-themed delicacies!

This guide will provide comprehensive insights on where to locate all the cooking recipes in Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker. This knowledge will not only simplify your encounters with formidable foes like the Puppeteer but also assist you in earning a rare trophy!

Complete List of Cooking Recipes in Throes of the Watchmaker

Sea of Stars - All Cooking Recipe Locations in Throes of the Watchmaker

Throes of the Watchmaker introduces significant changes, including a soft reset of character progression. Your characters Zale and Valere must change classes, and they lose all their equipment, rendering previously saved consumables ineffective in the Horloge area.

This makes it imperative to gather ingredients or stash away some in-game currency to create health-restoring items like popcorn and ice cream, as these are essential to survive the challenges ahead.

Initially, you can whip up two dishes: Popcorn and Ice Cream. However, three additional recipes can be discovered throughout the Throes of the Watchmaker DLC, which are crucial for boosting your team’s vitality:

Recipe Effect
Barbapapa Cures KO +75% HP (Ally)
Milkshake +75% HP/+33% MP (Ally)
Caramel Corn +40% HP (Party)

Barbapapa Recipe Location

Finding Barbapapa in Ivory Towers

Upon reaching Ivory Towers, you’ll encounter a sequence where you must ascend vines to open a gate leading to the Narcis King’s castle. Instead of proceeding through the gate and descending, navigate further right to discover a milk dispenser. If you drop down from the vines, you’ll come across a hidden chest containing the coveted Barbapapa recipe, which is fabulous for curing KO and is also a delightful treat!

Milkshake Recipe Location

Finding Milkshake in Wolf Rock

As you progress in Wolf Rock, you’ll encounter a pitch-black area where interacting with crystals illuminates your surroundings to help solve puzzles. The Muse Drone becomes vital here, assisting in moving objects to progress deeper into the dungeon.

After unlocking a wooden stair shortcut, you’ll need to manage platforms using the Muse Drone. As you explore further, you’ll stumble upon an additional block spot. Activating it will render a platform, leading you to another chest holding the Milkshake recipe.

Caramel Corn Recipe Location

Finding Caramel Corn in Horloge Town

The recipe for Caramel Corn is easily accessible but can be easily overlooked. It’s available for purchase at a stall in Horloge Town, but it becomes accessible only toward the game’s conclusion. While it’s hard to determine if it becomes available before or after the Wolf Rock events, I acquired it just after gaining access to the Big Top dungeon, the final challenge in Throes of the Watchmaker.

To find the vendor, head to the eastern side of Horloge Town, located right in front of the tent where you need to present your Certificate of Balloonery to claim the Time Rune IX. Initially, the vendor offers only Music Sheets, but later on, the Caramel Corn recipe becomes available for 79 Tokens. It’s worth noting this is quite pricey, so it’s advisable to stockpile tickets or sell some ingredients.
