Saving Contacts to Another Account Might Be Tedious with Google Contacts

Google is enhancing its Contacts app with a new feature that introduces an upgraded home screen widget, enabling users to select more than seven favorite contacts. This widget will showcase each contact’s name along with their profile picture for easy access.

However, amidst these improvements, it seems Google might eliminate a useful feature in the Contacts app that many users will likely find inconvenient. Currently, when users create a new contact, they can conveniently select which account they’d like to save the contact to.

Regrettably, there are indications that this feature may be phased out. An APK teardown of the latest version of Google Contacts app (v4.42.26.682057806) suggests that the “Save to”option could be replaced by a “Saving to”label. The major distinction is that the existing “Save to”feature presents users with a list of available Google accounts for saving contacts effortlessly.

On the other hand, the “Saving to”feature does not allow for the selection of a specific Google account; it merely informs users about where their contact is being saved.

In the previous version of the “Create contact”page, the “Save to”option was located above the entry fields. In contrast, in the new layout, the “Saving to”feature appears below the entry fields.

It remains uncertain whether this adjustment is a final decision or simply part of a testing phase. Nonetheless, even if Google opts to make the “Save to”feature obsolete in favor of “Saving to,”users will still have ways to save contacts to different accounts or devices.

The main change would involve utilizing a different approach. It appears that there will still be an option to “move to another account,”allowing contacts to be transferred to another account or device, although this feature is not yet functional or available to users.
