Samsung Unveils the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF: A 500Hz Gaming Monitor at $999
Samsung has officially introduced its flagship 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF monitor, showcasing an impressive refresh rate of 500Hz, making it a top choice for avid gamers and professionals alike. Although MSI previously launched a 500Hz OLED model noted for its 1440p resolution, Samsung’s offering is marketed as the first to be commercially available, as they bring this technology to retail.

The Odyssey G6 G60SF features a QHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, powered by Samsung’s advanced QD-OLED panel. This combination results in an astonishing contrast ratio of 1M:1 and an ultra-responsive response time of just 0.03ms. The monitor proudly holds a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification and can reach peak brightness levels of up to 1, 000 nits in HDR mode, complemented by Samsung’s innovative Glare Free technology to reduce eye strain.

This monitor is packed with features designed to elevate the gaming experience, including Flicker Free technology and Black Equalizer to improve visual clarity in dark scenes. Additionally, it supports FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility, effectively minimizing screen tearing for a smoother gaming experience. It is worth noting that the monitor utilizes the older DisplayPort 1.4, which, while sufficient for 32 Gbps bandwidth, would greatly benefit from the capabilities of the more modern DisplayPort 2.1 for uncompressed visuals.

In addition to the G6, Samsung has announced two large-screen gaming monitors in the Odyssey G7 series, featuring an uncommon 37-inch and a 40-inch screen size, both designed with a 1000R curvature for an immersive gaming experience. The 37-inch Odyssey G7 G75F offers 4K resolution with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, while the 40-inch variant delivers 5K resolution supporting up to 180Hz refresh rates. Both models come equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and hold VESA DisplayHDR600 certification, showcasing Samsung’s commitment to high-performance gaming displays.
Currently, the Odyssey OLED G6 is available at a price point of $999, while the 37-inch Odyssey G7 retails for $899, and the more extensive 40-inch model is priced at $1, 199. All three products can be conveniently purchased through Samsung’s official online store.
