Samsung Set to Release 25-Inch OLED Gaming Monitor in 2024

Exciting news on the horizon for gamers: Samsung is reportedly gearing up to introduce standard 24-25 inch OLED gaming panels as early as next year, specifically targeting budget-conscious consumers.

While OLED monitors are often seen as a premium choice due to their pricing and limited range of sizes—most commonly starting at 27 inches—Samsung is aiming to bridge this gap. Traditionally, more affordable display technologies such as IPS, VA, and TN panels can be found in screen sizes smaller than 20 inches, leaving budget gamers with fewer options when it comes to OLED displays.

The 24 and 25-inch display sizes have gained popularity among gamers, primarily due to their affordability, compact design, and adequate pixel density at 1080p resolution. This makes them particularly appealing for eSports and casual gaming. According to sources such as Channel Gate, Samsung is optimistic about launching a 25-inch OLED gaming display, betting on its success due to the screen’s high demand among gamers looking for a balance of cost and performance—especially as larger 27-inch displays do not offer the same enjoyable experience at lower resolutions.

The introduction of 25-inch OLED gaming monitors presents an opportunity for Samsung to cater to more price-sensitive consumers who may have previously shied away from higher-priced 27-inch or larger OLED options. While these 25-inch models will be pricier compared to IPS or VA alternatives, the continuous reduction in OLED prices suggests that they might become increasingly accessible.

Moreover, Samsung is reportedly targeting impressive refresh rates of 300-360Hz for these new monitors, promising gamers rich visuals, smooth framerates, and striking contrast. Although the highest refresh rates currently available reach up to 500Hz on premium 2K displays, such models tend to be cost-prohibitive for many players, given the high-performance hardware required to achieve such frame rates.

Currently, some of the most competitively priced OLED gaming monitors, such as the MSI MAG 271QP QD-OLED X24, are available for approximately $500, featuring 2K resolution with refresh rates up to 240Hz. Meanwhile, the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACDNG can achieve 360Hz and retails around $600-$650. This indicates a promising possibility that a 25-inch 1080p OLED monitor will be priced between $300-$400, further opening up the market for gamers seeking quality without breaking the bank.
