Samsung’s eagerly awaited Galaxy Unpacked event took place today, unveiling significant advancements and innovative products. The spotlight illuminated the prominence of artificial intelligence as a key focus, alongside a strategic partnership with Google aimed at enhancing these capabilities. Notably, the foldable smartphone lineup stole the show, especially with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the much-anticipated Z Flip FE. The latter was particularly exciting due to its affordability, appealing to a broader audience while maintaining premium features without breaking the bank.
Introducing the Budget-Friendly Galaxy Z Flip FE
Historically, foldable smartphones have been positioned in the higher price segment, making them less accessible. With the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip FE, Samsung aims to democratize foldable technology, allowing more consumers to experience its innovative design. While the FE model retains many core features of its more expensive counterpart, certain specifications have been streamlined to reduce costs and provide a more budget-friendly option.

At the heart of the Galaxy Z Flip FE is the Exynos 2400 chipset, accompanied by 8GB of RAM and an impressive storage capacity of up to 256GB. Although the Z Flip 7 boasts 12GB of RAM, the performance of both models remains closely matched due to the shared processor. The Flip FE features a 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X internal display, complemented by a smaller external screen that lacks the interactivity of the more premium device.
The cover display mirrors that of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, offering a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED, which, while appearing less advanced, strategically helps to lower component costs to keep the price accessible. Notably, the inclusion of a full cover screen represents a significant upgrade for the budget model, typically reserved for its higher-tier versions. The device also houses a 4, 000mAh battery, with support for 25W charging, ensuring sufficient power for daily use.

The camera setup on the Galaxy Z Flip FE consists of a dual-camera system, featuring a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 12MP ultra-wide lens. As anticipated, this model does not include a telephoto lens, which is typical for more affordable devices. Available in two sleek color choices—Black and White—the Galaxy Z Flip FE is priced at $899 and is open for pre-orders through Samsung’s official website.
