Historically, Apple entered the wireless charging arena later than its competitors, yet it provided a faster wireless charging option compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S-series. Now, Samsung is catching up by enhancing its wireless charging capabilities in its premium smartphone range, introducing charging speeds comparable to those seen in Apple’s devices.

Recent reports from Taiwan’s Economic Times reveal significant wireless charging enhancements for the Galaxy S26 series:
- The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will boast a 25W wireless charging capability, slashing charging times by approximately 40% compared to the previous standard of 15W.
- The standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will support 20W wireless charging, matching the capabilities of the iPhone Air.
Since the infamous Galaxy Note 7 incidents in 2016, which resulted in a widespread recall, Samsung has approached battery technology with caution. However, the upcoming Galaxy S26 series indicates a shift towards embracing more advanced charging solutions.
It’s important to highlight that Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup has long supported the Qi2 wireless charging standard, enabling speeds up to 25W. Additionally, certain Chinese manufacturers have pushed the limits even further, delivering wireless charging speeds of up to 50W.
Looking ahead, these improved wireless charging technologies are anticipated to extend to Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Z-series foldable devices, including the innovative Galaxy Z TriFold, before expanding to its more budget-friendly offerings.
