Samsung is making strides in its quest for innovation with the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, aiming to position it as the world’s thinnest flagship smartphone. This ambitious design not only promises a sleek profile but also suggests the device will be remarkably lightweight. Recent insights from industry tipsters indicate that the S25 Edge will weigh no more than its base counterpart, the Galaxy S25.
Lightweight Design: Innovations in Battery and Materials
Initially, there were concerns that the Galaxy S25 Edge might surpass the base model in weight due to Samsung experimenting with two prototype designs. However, the production version has settled on a slim profile of just 5.84mm thickness. This decision has ramifications for the camera setup, resulting in the S25 Edge featuring only two rear cameras, rather than three. The reduction in components and materials ultimately contributes to a more portable device, as confirmed by industry expert Ice Universe on X.
The standard Galaxy S25 boasts a 6.2-inch display, houses a 4, 000mAh battery, and weighs in at 162 grams. Given the specifications, expectations are that the S25 Edge will tip the scales even lower despite its larger 6.7-inch screen. The weight reduction can be attributed to Samsung’s strategic use of a smaller 3, 900mAh battery and less aluminum in its chassis construction, effectively minimizing overall mass.

According to a recent 3C certification, the S25 Edge will utilize a 3, 900mAh battery, which is indeed smaller than that of the base model. The strategic design choices not only enhance the sleekness of the Galaxy S25 Edge but also ensure it remains manageable and light for daily use. While the official launch date remains unconfirmed, speculation suggests an unveiling in April, allowing for a closer look at the true weight and features of this anticipated device.
