Samsung Confirms Galaxy S24’s Super HDR Is Not Coming to Older Galaxy Phones
With the launch of the Galaxy S24, Samsung also unveiled Super HDR. This feature was designed to enhance the brightness and color vibrancy of specific images on their top-of-the-line screens. While many believed it would be accessible on older models, the South Korean company has clarified that it will not be made available on previous Samsung devices.
Limitations of Samsung’s Super HDR technology on older devices
If you are not familiar, Super HDR is a technology inspired by Google’s Ultra HDR. The camera on the Galaxy S24 smartphones captures images using Super HDR, and once the photo is taken, it will be displayed on compatible devices. While it may not seem remarkable to some, in reality, the results are quite impressive.
Having Super HDR enabled on all of your pictures will greatly enhance their appearance, particularly in specific areas. You will notice an increase in detail in every aspect of the image, resulting in an overall improved visual. I personally experienced this when I first had the opportunity to use the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
According to a confirmation from a
In the case of Super HDR, only the S24 model that can be supported by AP and display is supported.
Unfortunately, even though the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in the Galaxy S23 series has the capability, it is not equipped to support Super HDR. This means that those who have been eagerly anticipating this feature will not have access to it. Furthermore, the feature will not be available on other Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5, as Samsung has chosen to remove this highly sought-after feature from all previous models.
