Samsung Introduces Eclipsa Audio: A Groundbreaking 3D Audio Technology

Samsung Electronics has unveiled an exciting advancement in its audio technology, the Eclipsa Audio, developed in collaboration with Google. This innovative 3D audio solution is set to be integrated into Samsung’s 2025 lineup of televisions and soundbars, offering users an enhanced auditory experience across all models—from the budget-friendly Crystal UHD to the luxurious Neo QLED 8K.

Revolutionizing Home Entertainment

Eclipsa Audio empowers users with the ability to customize various aspects of sound, including its location, intensity, and spatial reflections, helping to create an all-encompassing 3D sound experience. This technology utilizes the Immersive Audio Model and Formats (IAMF), established as a new 3D spatial audio standard by the Alliance for Open Media (AOM) in October 2023, marking a significant leap forward in audio engineering.

Collaboration for Consistent Quality

In an effort to standardize and maintain audio quality, Samsung and Google are collaborating with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to develop a certification program for devices equipped with Eclipsa Audio technology. This initiative aims to ensure a uniform auditory experience for consumers across a diverse range of products.

Future of Home Audio Experiences

Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Visual Display Business at Samsung, expressed pride in leading the industry with this innovative audio integration. He stated, “We are proud to lead the industry with the integration of Eclipsa Audio into our 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. This innovation opens new possibilities for immersive audio experiences and reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of home entertainment.”

Expanding Streaming Support

As part of its forward-thinking approach, starting in 2025, YouTube will begin supporting videos featuring Eclipsa Audio tracks. This move draws similarities to the platform’s long-time support for Dolby Atmos technology, further positioning Eclipsa Audio as a strong contender in the immersive audio landscape.

Samsung’s Market Leadership

Having maintained its status as a global leader in the television market for 18 consecutive years, with a substantial market share in screens over 75 inches, Samsung’s introduction of Eclipsa Audio positions the company to redefine consumer experiences while striving to capture even greater market share.
