The competitive landscape of memory overclocking is heating up, with the latest milestone achieved by the overclocker known as Saltycroissant, who has successfully surpassed the 12, 800 MT/s threshold once again.
Saltycroissant Sets New DDR5 World Record at 12, 832 MT/s with Corsair Vengeance on ASRock Z890 Taichi OCF
This month began with “bl4ckdot”breaking records by reaching a frequency of 12, 774 MT/s on the Z890 platform using Trident Z5 memory. Just two days later, he outdid himself, hitting 12, 822 MT/s and securing the title of the second individual to breach the 12, 800 MT/s mark. On May 3rd, however, Saltycroissant had already made headlines by recording a speed of 12, 806 MT/s, making him the first to break this significant barrier.
In a remarkable turn of events, just two weeks later, Saltycroissant reclaimed the spotlight by achieving an impressive 12, 832 MT/s. Although the increase of only 10 MHz may appear minor, reaching new heights beyond 12, 000 MT/s presents significant technical challenges. While Saltycroissant has held the top position in the past, fierce competition from other overclocking enthusiasts makes it difficult to maintain supremacy for long.
The newly attained speed of 12, 832 MT/s is one of the most challenging to achieve, and it’s likely that the record won’t hold for long. Other skilled overclockers, such as Seby, Splave, and Hicookie, are also vying for the highest honors in this rapidly evolving field, each having previously held the title at different points.
Saltycroissant achieved this remarkable feat using a 24 GB DDR5 RAM stick from Corsair’s Vengeance series, installed on the highly regarded ASRock Z890 Taichi OCF motherboard, paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF processor. The Z890 Taichi OCF continues to earn acclaim as one of the premier motherboards for overclocking, having been instrumental in numerous previous world records.
To maintain optimal memory temperatures during this intense overclocking process, Saltycroissant employed nitrogen cooling, a standard practice among leading overclockers. The results of this remarkable achievement have been officially recorded on HWBot and validated by CPU-Z. With timings set at 68-127-127-127-2, it’s evident that recent overclocking records have shown impressive advancements, allowing overclockers to push speeds without heavily sacrificing latency. However, it is also important to note that such speeds have little practical impact on everyday applications or gaming performance.
