According to a report from Naver, Ryu Hye-young and Nam Yoon-soo have been officially cast as the leads in the upcoming thriller film Killing Time. This project is directed by Jang Joon-yeop, who has gained recognition for his short films, including Prisad, Missing, and Like. Notably, his last film, Bomigado, was featured at the 19th Jeonju International Film Festival.

The film Killing Time is a collaborative effort between Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, a company known for projects like Will You Get Married?, Ameba Girls, and School Ghost Stories: School Anniversary, which will handle production and distribution. Perfect Storm Films, known for titles such as Suriname and Hijacking, will also contribute as a producer for the film, which is anticipated to hit theaters in 2025. Filming is set to have commenced on October 18, 2024, according to the production team.

Plot and Cast of Killing Time

This South Korean film revolves around a trendy internet program titled “Killing Time,” recognized for its bold content. A shocking incident occurs during a live broadcast when a team member dies unexpectedly, leaving the audience stunned as they witness this tragedy unfold in real-time. Following this event, a cascade of thrilling and unforeseen occurrences ensue, culminating in perilous decisions in pursuit of regaining success.

Ryu Hye-young will portray Yeon-woo, an aspiring actress who becomes part of the show. Throughout her experience, she undergoes a transformation, increasingly desensitized by the intense public scrutiny that ultimately leads to trauma sparked by the mishap.

Conversely, Nam Yoon-soo takes on the role of Joo-won, the producer of the program, fully invested in the success of the show.

The cast also features rising stars such as Kim Seung-hee, Bae Myung-jin, Lee Kyu-hyun, Ji Soo-yeon, and Oh Min-soo.

Nam Yoon-soo started his career as a model in 2014 before shifting to acting, appearing in music videos during 2014 and 2015. His acting debut was marked in 2018 with the MBC Every 1 drama 4 Kinds of House.

He also stars as Go-young in Love in the Big City, a South Korean Boys’ Love (BL) series that explores the decade-long journey of a young gay man learning to navigate the complex challenges of love and life in a conservative environment, all while pursuing a career as a writer.

On the other hand, Ryu Hye-young is celebrated for her roles in popular series such as Reply 1988 and Law School. She began her acting career back in 2007 with the short film High School Girls and has since earned multiple accolades, including the Rising Artist Award at the 10th Korean Cable TV Awards for Reply 1988 and the Special Popularity Award at the 21st Chunsa Film Art Awards.

Ryu Hye-young is also set to appear in the highly anticipated drama Nice Guy, which features Lee Dong-wook. This narrative revolves around Seok Chul, the oldest grandson in a three-generational family of mischief-makers, as he navigates challenges to safeguard his family, career, and romantic relationships.
