The Boys actor Cameron Crovetti has expressed enthusiasm for a potential spin-off that would center around his character, Ryan, the son of the deeply polarizing Homelander. As fans eagerly await the fifth and final season of The Boys, speculation is rampant about the future direction of the franchise. Given the success of the recent series Gen V, a spin-off focusing on Ryan appears to be a logical next step, delving into the complexities of a character caught in the tension between heroism and villainy.
In a recent interview with Collider, Crovetti articulated his excitement for a potential series centered on Ryan. Throughout the storyline, Ryan grapples with the conflicting influences of his biological father, Homelander, and his surrogate mentor, Billy Butcher. As The Boys gears up for its fifth season, viewers can expect Ryan’s internal struggle with agency, moral choices, and his considerable powers to take center stage. Here’s what Crovetti had to say:
I think that’d be a really cool storyline to see — it’s definitely like with Homelander and Butcher, he’s very, I don’t know what to say, it’s like wishy-washy of who he wants to go with because he’s so impressionable right now, and he’s still so young. And with having a crazy dad like Homelander, I feel like there’s definitely a lot that would affect him. And I think that’d be really interesting to explore and see how that affects him as he grows older.

As Homelander attempts to shape Ryan into his heir, Butcher is determined to thwart this ambition, staying true to a promise made to Ryan’s mother, Becca. Season 5 of The Boys may ultimately establish Ryan as a pivotal experiment in the age-old debate between nature versus nurture. Should Ryan align with heroism, he has the potential to be instrumental in countering Homelander’s destructive influence.
The resolution of Ryan’s arc in Season 5 will likely be one of the highpoints of the series, setting the stage for a possible spin-off. Regardless of the outcome, the narrative could delve into Ryan’s childhood experiences within Vought’s engineered community and the ramifications of his isolation. Considering his vulnerable and impressionable state, a Ryan-focused series could provide a nuanced exploration of his inner turmoil, influenced by powerful external forces in a world where superhuman abilities present both opportunities and profound risks.
Our Perspective on a Potential Ryan Spin-Off
Is Ryan the Future of The Boys Universe?

A spin-off that centers on Ryan could significantly enrich the tapestry of The Boys universe, providing a unique lens through which to explore themes of morality, identity, and the burden of power. Cameron Crovetti has already demonstrated commendable acting skills, and a deeper dive into Ryan’s conflict between the influences of Butcher and Homelander would create a captivating narrative. However, whether a spin-off materializes will be contingent on how Ryan’s storyline concludes in Season 5. If the narrative leaves the door open, it might provide the perfect setup to advance the legacy of The Boys—and Homelander’s complex narrative—into a new era of Superheroes.
