After landing in the bottom two for the fourth time in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16, episode 13, Morphine Dion Love was ultimately eliminated and sent home. The episode aired on March 29 at 8 pm ET on MTV.
The current season, which began on January 5, has thus far showcased exceptional drag performances in the categories of dance, music, fashion, and drama. In addition, episode 13 introduced a new genre for the contestants to master, and not succeeding in this challenge resulted in elimination from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
In the competition of makeovers, where all the queens possessed different talents, Morphine Dion Love received the least amount of praise. As a result, in the lip sync, Morphine was paired against Sapphira Cristál, a participant who had never been in the bottom before.
The Shocking Elimination of Morphine Dion Love on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Episode 13
Despite consistently being in the bottom spot, Miami native Morphine still had high hopes for the makeover challenge due to her skill in makeup.
Despite there being no mini-challenge in this episode, the main challenge remained the sole opportunity for the queens to showcase their abilities. In the most recent episode, titled Drag Race Vegas Live! Makeovers, the queens were tasked with partnering up with individuals from outside the competition.
Despite her impressive face paint in the makeover challenge, Morphine’s dress failed to meet the judges’ expectations, including guest judge singer Kelsea Ballerini. Additionally, the judges noticed that her RDR Live! star, La Tina, had a visible tattoo, and they also felt that the hair was too small to balance out La Tina’s broad shoulders.
Morphine’s struggles with her transformation ultimately led to her elimination, as she found herself in the bottom two and had to face off against Sapphira Cristál in a lip sync battle.
Despite her efforts, Sapphira landed in the bottom for the first time on RuPaul’s Drag Race due to her inability to fully embody the ‘Orange’ theme. During the critiques, Judge Michelle noted that the outfit was not properly coordinated, with conflicting colors.
Sapphira’s performance in the lip-sync was highly anticipated as it was her first time participating in the season.
The queens both performed Miss Me More, by guest judge Kelsea Ballerini, for the lip sync battle. It was a difficult decision for this round as both queens delivered high-energy performances that captivated both viewers and judges.
Nevertheless, even though both queens gave exceptional performances, one of them had to be eliminated, and it turned out to be Morphine.
The new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race are released every Friday at 8 pm ET on MTV.
