RUN JIN Episode 7 Recap & Highlights: Kim Seok-jin and Ji Suk-jin from BTS Explore Games of Chance
On September 24, 2024, Big Hit Music launched the seventh episode of RUN JIN, a popular variety show featuring BTS member Jin. This week’s episode welcomed a special guest—Ji Suk-jin, a prominent figure in South Korea’s entertainment scene.
Ji Suk-jin, affectionately known as Jee Seok, is a multifaceted entertainer, recognized as a comedian, singer, TV presenter, and actor. He began his career as a singer in 1992 and rose to international fame through his role on the renowned variety program Running Man.
In this latest episode of RUN JIN, fans enjoyed plenty of laughter as the two Jins playfully bantered and competed against each other in a series of luck-based games. The episode was filled with challenges that came with both rewards and penalties, emphasizing the theme of chance.
BTS’ Jin and Jee Seok’s Fun Encounter
The episode titled ‘The New Channel Owner’ began with a surprising entrance from Jee Seok, who completely caught the BTS star off guard. This delightful reunion marked their first meeting since Jin’s military enlistment in December 2022.
The duo joked about maintaining their youthful looks before diving headfirst into a variety of games fueled by luck.
The first game involved selecting envelopes for a chance to secure a key for future challenges. Despite numerous attempts, both stars kept selecting ‘dud’ envelopes. The real fun commenced with a food-themed challenge, where they had to guess ingredients from a zoomed-in image.
The idol triumphed with a score of 9 to 14, gaining the right to choose the next clue. Then came a ‘battle for chopsticks’ where the winner would receive regular-sized chopsticks while the loser would have to use oversized ones. BTS’s eldest member emerged victorious once more, all while Jee Seok humorously struggled with the larger utensils, adding to the comedic moment.
Following that, a dessert challenge featured a delicious watermelon patbingsu and cheesecake. To determine who could choose first, they had to carefully extract sheets from thermocol cups. Although the singer-idol won again, he faced bad luck after selecting a ‘dud’ envelope, which allowed Jee Seok to enjoy both desserts while Jin had to make do with a DIY dessert for kids.
During a moment of mischief, the K-pop star sneaked a spoonful of ice from Jee Seok’s dessert and ended up suffering a brain freeze, much to the audience’s amusement.
The final challenge was a trampoline workout set to BTS hits Butter and Fire. Both participants attempted to cheat the pedometer by shaking it before the game commenced. Although the idol narrowly clinched victory in the trampoline game, he misread the staff’s cues, leading him to choose incorrectly in the concluding round.
This misstep left the Epiphany singer to perform additional workouts as a punishment, while Jee Seok lounged in a chair, sipping water and enjoying the light-hearted antics.
The episode concluded on a cheerful note, teasing viewers with the promise that next week, Jee Seok will return as the guest.
