Speculation is rife around Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4, anticipated to debut next year. Reports indicate that this mid-tier smartphone may stray from the old design seen in the iPhone SE 3.
It’s expected that the iPhone SE 4 will showcase an improved chassis similar to that of the iPhone 14. Recent leaks of purported iPhone SE 4 cases indicate a camera arrangement akin to the iPhone 7 Plus. This new device is said to sport a single 48MP camera, echoing the specs of the iPhone 15.
In a recent update, the Japanese Apple site Macotakara has released images and a video featuring possible dummy models of the iPhone SE 4, intriguingly revealing a ‘Plus’ size variant as well. From the visuals, the design of the iPhone SE 4 appears consistent with earlier leaks about the smartphone.
Macotakara is recognized for its accurate dissemination of dummy iPhone units prior to their launch, and this latest leak provides valuable insights into what we can expect from the iPhone SE 4 next year. The dummy model features a single rear camera, a redesigned mute switch, an action button, and a smaller notch for Face ID.
According to their findings, the dimensions of the iPhone SE 4 dummy are 146.7mm x 71.5mm x 7.8mm, closely matching those of the iPhone 14. Notably, soft TPU cases designed for the iPhone 14 appear to fit the dummy units well, save for the larger camera aperture on the back. Although there are mentions of a larger model corresponding to the iPhone 14 Plus size, the absence of credible reports about this model makes its introduction seem unlikely.
Furthermore, Macotakara pointed out that the “final design and size adjustments”for the iPhone SE 4 are yet to be confirmed, and there’s a “chance”that only a single model will be released. The report also emphasizes that it is “highly probable”that the phone will include a USB-C port. Given Apple’s recent trend of outfitting all its devices with USB-C, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this feature in the iPhone SE 4, which is rumored to be priced under $500.
