Rumor: Nintendo’s Upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie Title May Be “Super Mario Galaxy”

As the excitement builds for the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie, set to premiere in 2027, fans are also abuzz about a sequel to the Super Mario Bros.film, originally released in 2023. In a twist of fate, a leak just emerged just a day before what promises to be the longest Nintendo Direct presentation in history, suggesting that the next exciting installment could be titled Super Mario Galaxy.

Information surfaced on Reddit, indicating that NBC Universal registered domains on September 10, 2025, which hint at the title Super Mario Galaxy. Notably, these domains redirect to Universal’s official website, although that doesn’t confirm the title is finalized.

The timing of these domain registrations does lend credence to the idea that Super Mario Galaxy might indeed be the title of the much-anticipated sequel. It’s worth noting that a press release from NBC Universal earlier this year hinted at another potential title, Super Mario World, which was published and subsequently retracted.

From a narrative perspective, considering the post-credits scene in the first Super Mario Bros.movie, which hinted at the iconic character Yoshi, Super Mario World appears to align well with fan expectations. However, since Yoshi does have his place within the Galaxy games, there remains a strong possibility that Super Mario Galaxy could still be on the table.

Coincidentally, the original Super Mario Bros.game is nearing its 40th anniversary on September 13, 2025. As the sequel gears up for its release on April 3, 2026, it seems fitting that Nintendo would debut official details during the upcoming Direct. Fans are eager for updates, which could include insights into the film’s storyline, and perhaps even a teaser trailer.

Tomorrow’s Direct will be pivotal in determining the validity of these leaks. If the title is indeed Super Mario World, it raises questions about the purpose of the registered domains. Conversely, if Super Mario Galaxy is confirmed, it would prompt curiosity about the previous mention in NBC Universal’s press release. All eyes will be on tomorrow’s event for clarifications and exciting announcements.
