“Rude” Comments from The Real Housewives of Potomac Fans on Karen’s Invitation to Her Award Show

The second episode of season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, titled Double Trouble, debuted on Bravo on October 13, 2024. This episode featured Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger both hosting simultaneous events that gathered the group of ladies. Gizelle organized the GnA charity event to honor her late father, who recently lost his battle with a brain tumor, while promoting her athleisure line.

On the evening prior to her event, Karen visited Gizelle and mentioned her upcoming award ceremony. After returning home, Karen sent a message to the rest of the cast, inviting them to join her event the following day.

This situation left Gizelle fuming, as Karen failed to inform her during their visit that she planned to invite the others. Gizelle felt it was highly inappropriate for Karen to overshadow her charity event that was in memory of her father.

Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac took to social media platform X to express their disapproval of Karen’s actions. Many labeled her behavior as “weird”and insinuated that she was being dismissive of Gizelle’s grief.

“Karen played in Gizelle’s face and it’s weird… like her dad just died and she told you the event was about him and his brain tumor and you invite the girls to your event at the same time? Smh no accountability and rude,”expressed one viewer.

“Now I don’t always agree with Gizelle, but Karen… this is for her father. That’s a little wild, and sending it the morning of is crazy work babe lol,”commented another fan.

“Sorry but Karen was in the wrong here. Pulling this stunt at an event Gizelle was hosting to honor her father is low,”added a third viewer.

Several fans also suggested that Karen was using her award ceremony as a cover-up for her recent DUI charge.

Gizelle was livid upon receiving Karen’s message inviting the women, including Stacey, Mia, and Jassi, to her award ceremony scheduled at the same time as Gizelle’s charity gala. In response, she encouraged her castmates to prioritize Karen’s event instead.

In an awkward predicament, Mia Thorton, Stacey Rusch, and Jassi Rideaux attempted to navigate both events by first attending Karen’s award presentation and then rushing over to Gizelle’s GnA charity gathering.

Unfortunately, due to their late arrival at Gizelle’s gathering and the fact that they witnessed Karen receiving her award first, Gizelle was understandably upset. She ultimately asked her fellow cast members to leave her event in frustration.
