Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden clinch men’s doubles crown at Miami Open
On March 30, Saturday, Rohan Bopanna, a prominent Indian tennis player, clinched the men’s doubles championship at the ATP Miami Masters in the United States alongside his Australian partner, Matthew Ebden.
The pair consisting of Bopanna and Ebden emerged victorious over Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and America’s Austin Krajicek, securing the crown with a final score of 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-6 in just under two hours.
After securing this title, the Indo-Australian pair regained their top ranking in the men’s doubles rankings with 8080 points. Despite losing in the final, Austin Krajicek dropped to third place with 7140 points.
This is the pair’s second championship of the year, following their win in the 2024 Australian Open earlier this year, where Bopanna secured his first-ever Grand Slam victory in the men’s doubles competition.
Bopanna’s victory in the Miami Masters makes him the first Indian champion since Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek claimed the title in 2012.
By winning this title, the 44-year-old Coorg native surpassed his previous record and became the oldest male to win an ATP 1000 event. This match marked not only Bopanna’s 14th ATP Masters 1000 final, but also his 63rd final at the ATP Tour level.
Bopanna reflected on the victory, as stated (via TOI).
“It’s amazing. As long as you are doing well in these big events, it’s what we play for. I want to do well in the Masters 1000s and the Grand Slams. It’s good to keep that record going and keep giving everyone else a run for their money.”

Despite Krajicek and Dodig’s initial 3-0 advantage, Bopanna and Ebden were determined to put up a strong fight. However, the Krajicek-Dodig duo ultimately secured victory in the tiebreak with a score of 7-3.
