The phenomenon surrounding Roblox continues to surge in popularity, now driven by exciting movie adaptations rather than controversies. Exciting Movie Adaptations: ‘Grow a Garden’ and ‘Jailbreak’
As detailed in a recent Deadline report, Story Kitchen, a notable studio known for adapting video games into films, is partnering with New Zealand’s Splitting Point Studios to bring Grow a Garden to the big screen. Dmitri Johnson, co-founder of Story Kitchen, expressed enthusiasm about the project:
“Grow a Garden is exactly the kind of imaginative, heartfelt world we love to adapt, an uplifting story-world rooted in play, creativity, and community.”
Initially launched in March, Grow a Garden has gained immense popularity, with peak concurrent players exceeding 22 million. The forthcoming film will follow a group of urban children who discover a vibrant and whimsical realm via a mysterious portal, embarking on an adventure that artfully weaves together elements of fantasy and heartwarming storytelling. Additional plot specifics are yet to be revealed.
In addition to this, Vancouver-based Wind Sun Sky Entertainment has secured a deal to adapt Jailbreak, a long-standing cops-and-robbers game developed by Badimo. CEO Catherine Winder indicated that the film aims to encapsulate the game’s unique blend of action, comedy, and heartfelt narratives.
Story Kitchen is renowned for its impressive catalog of video-game adaptations, including titles like Tomb Raider, Life Is Strange, and It Takes Two. On the other hand, Wind Sun Sky is well-recognized for producing the hit series Invincible. The addition of Creatures of Sonaria to their project list suggests that more adaptations of Roblox games could be on the horizon.
