Fans of the dark knight are excited about Robert Pattinson’s impending return in The Batman Part II, but there’s still an air of uncertainty as filming has not yet started. The original film debuted in 2022 and was both a commercial and critical triumph. It raked in over $772 million at the global box office and achieved a noteworthy 85% approval rating from critics, along with an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Given its achievements, the anticipation for the sequel is palpable, yet little movement has been made towards production.
Recently, during a feature for Hero Magazine, Naomi Ackie engaged Pattinson in a lighthearted discussion about his role as the Caped Crusader. When Ackie playfully inquired about when he would don the iconic suit again, Pattinson simply expressed, “I f*****g hope so.[laughs] I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f*****g old Batman by the sequel.”This joke highlighted the growing gap since the first film, with Pattinson reflecting on his age, playfully bemoaning that at 38, he feels “old, ”though he acknowledged he’s healthier than ever. Ackie, however, reminded him that 38 isn’t considered old in the film industry.
The conversation also ventured into Pattinson’s career motivations. He shared that he had long been searching for a project revolving around themes of vengeance. Ultimately, it was The Batman that fulfilled that desire, although he had previously explored many contrasting roles before landing the part.“I remember saying for ages that I wanted to do a movie about vengeance, but I could never find it… then suddenly The Batman came up, “he recounted, showcasing his journey toward identifying what he wanted artistically.

Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman diverges from other adaptations through its raw, rustic narrative style. His intense embodiment of Bruce Wayne has resonated with both fans and critics. Despite this, there have been delays as the sequel has been postponed multiple times. Originally scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, it was first delayed to October 2, 2026, and then further to October 1, 2027. With two years to go until the expected premiere, the urgency to finalize production appears low. However, in a recent dialogue with Deadline, Pattinson sounded optimistic about a year-end shooting schedule, reminiscing how it feels like ages since the last Batman film was released.
The Batman Part II is anticipated to reach theaters on October 1, 2027.
