RM of BTS to Complete Military Service in June, Paving the Way for Reunion
Kim Namjoon, widely known as RM, has officially announced that he will finish his compulsory military service in South Korea this June. This announcement serves as a significant milestone in the highly anticipated countdown toward a complete reunion of the iconic K-Pop group, BTS.
Despite not being physically present at the 2025 American Music Awards, RM made history by winning the Favorite K-Pop Artist award. He is the first K-pop performer to receive this recognition both as a solo artist and as a part of a group, marking a historic achievement in his career.
In a heartfelt message shared via his Instagram Stories, Namjoon expressed gratitude to his fans, stating, “Thank you @amaz #ARMY.”He also re-shared a celebratory post from BTS’s official account regarding the award and added a dispatch from Yonhap News about BTS’s military releases. His message, “It will be soon, seriously, soon, ”sent fans into a whirlwind of excitement.

BTS Members’ Military Service Timeline
Since enlisting, RM has showcased the leadership qualities that define his role in BTS. He commenced his service on December 11, 2023, alongside bandmate V, and swiftly progressed to the rank of sergeant while earning a position as a platoon leader. His anticipated discharge is set for June 10, 2025, which symbolizes a significant shift in BTS’s ongoing journey.
The timelines for BTS members’ military service have been staggered to facilitate personal projects and solo endeavors. Jin, the eldest member, was the first to enlist and also the first to return, having completed his service in June 2024. Following him, J-Hope finished his duties and released a second solo album, with Jin’s new album “Echo” and J-Hope’s “Hope on the Stage”tour receiving enthusiastic feedback from fans.
Both RM and V are expected to conclude their service on June 10, 2025. Meanwhile, Jungkook and Jimin, who signed up together, are set for discharge one day later on June 11. Suga’s role as an alternative public servant due to a previous shoulder injury means he will be the last member to return, anticipated on June 21. By the end of June, all seven BTS members will be free to reunite.
A New Chapter for BTS
This impending reunion comes after BTS announced their group hiatus in June 2022, allowing members to focus on solo careers while fulfilling their national obligations. Over the past two years, fans have witnessed each member’s growth—RM released an introspective album titled “Indigo, ” while Jungkook and Jimin achieved significant milestones in their solo careers.
As anticipation builds, BigHit Music has yet to confirm a specific comeback date, but there are clear indications from the members about their eagerness to reunite. J-Hope recently expressed, “We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it’s going to be massive energy.”This sentiment resonates deeply within the fandom, which is eagerly awaiting what is likely to become one of the most significant reunions in K-Pop.
For now, RM’s stirring Instagram message—”It will be soon, seriously, soon”—has galvanized the fan community, signaling that the long-awaited moment for BTS’s return is nearly here.
