Riot Games Launches Early Access for 2XKO, Its New Fighting Game
Riot Games, renowned for their competitive multiplayer titles like League of Legends and Valorant, is venturing into the fighting game arena with the much-anticipated release of 2XKO. After years of development and anticipation following the announcement of new gaming projects, this early access launch marks a significant milestone for the company.
The game has recently been in closed beta, allowing Riot to test its expansive online systems while collecting player feedback, particularly on characters such as Vi and Blitzcrank. This early testing phase has been crucial in tailoring the game experience for its audience.
Early Access Launch Details
2XKO will officially enter early access on October 7, exclusively available on Steam. While there are plans to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, specific dates for these platforms have yet to be revealed.
“This is when we’re rolling out our very first full-feature version of the game, including a full season of content and a few new features like combo trials, ” Riot explained.“Starting in Early Access, there won’t be any more content resets. That means anything you unlock after October 7 is yours to keep.”
Gameplay Highlights
For those unfamiliar with 2XKO, it introduces a unique 2v2 tag-team format featuring beloved characters from League of Legends. Players will engage in fast-paced action using a combination of light, medium, and heavy attacks, accompanied by character-specific special moves. The dynamic tag system allows for seamless swapping between primary and assist characters, paving the way for thrilling combo strategies during battles.
The official launch of Season 0 is set to coincide with the early access start, which means players can expect a roster of 10 fighters at launch, including a brand new character that will be introduced at this time. Additionally, five more seasons are planned for release through 2026, each featuring a new playable champion alongside various updates such as battle passes and rank resets.
Future Roadmap
The upcoming content packs promise to expand the gameplay experience significantly, with new champions and mechanics scheduled to roll out in the following years. This commitment to regular updates reflects Riot’s dedication to fostering a vibrant community and ensuring lasting engagement with their player base.
