Ringo Starr, 84, Cancels Fall Tour Due to Cold Illness

Ringo Starr, the legendary drummer of The Beatles, has announced the cancellation of the final two dates of his tour due to illness. The 84-year-old musician, along with his All Starr Band, was actively touring when he caught a cold, prompting him to heed his doctor’s advice and cancel the remaining performances.

This news was made public on Tuesday, September 24, via a press release from Starr’s management team.

“Ringo has come down with a cold and after consulting a doctor he was advised to cancel these two remaining shows and get rest,”the official statement read.

The canceled shows were scheduled for Tuesday evening in Philadelphia at the TD Pavilion in Mann Center for the Performing Arts and Wednesday evening at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York. Fans who purchased tickets will receive full refunds.

Ringo Starr Maintains Positivity Amid Tour Challenges

Concluding the press release, the iconic former Beatle expressed his well wishes to his fans.

“As always, Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them soon,”the statement continued.

This pause in touring follows Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band’s successful completion of 10 concerts as part of their fall tour, which kicked off on September 7 in San Diego. Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, established in 1989, includes notable musicians such as Colin Hay, Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Hamish Stuart, Gregg Bissonette, and Warren Ham.

Just last week, Starr thanked his audiences in an Instagram post detailing his latest tour:

“Just want to thank all the great audiences so far — I love you all. Peace & love from Ringo and the boys.”

In an interview with People Magazine in 2022, Ringo shared his perspective on aging and keeping a youthful outlook.

“Nothing makes me feel old. In my head, I’m 27,”Starr conveyed, adding, “Wisdom’s a heavy word. Getting older is what happens, and you try and keep yourself busy.”

The octogenarian detailed in the same discussion why maintaining a positive attitude has always been a part of his character.

“I never felt really down,”he noted. “I mean, I have my moments, of course. But my spirits are high. That’s all I can say, really.”

Upcoming Projects from Ringo Starr

Though fans will have to be patient for Ringo to return to the stage, he is actively engaged in new music projects. He is reportedly collaborating with producer T Bone Burnett on a forthcoming country album, with further details anticipated in the upcoming weeks.

This album will enhance his already impressive discography. Earlier this April, he released his fifth EP titled Crooked Boy, which includes four tracks all written and produced by Linda Perry.
