RHOC Star Shannon Beador Reacts to Joel Kim Booster’s Criticism of Her Demeanor on Love Hotel: “He Hopes That I Suffer”

Shannon Beador, a star of The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC), faced criticism from Joel Kim Booster, the host of Peacock’s new reality show Love Hotel. In a since-deleted Instagram story shared on September 29, 2024, Joel accused Shannon of exhibiting “pathetic drunk”behavior among other derogatory comments.

Shannon addressed the controversy during a Shannon and Vicki Live! event at the Irvine Improv in California on October 3, 2024. She expressed her surprise over Joel’s unexpected remarks, stating:

“He [Joel] hopes that I suffer…He said that he feels sorry for John Hanssen. He says that I am nothing but a pathetic drunk.”

The RHOC cast member was shocked by the attack, struggling to understand its origins. She was especially hurt by Joel’s subsequent comments regarding her daughters, Sophie, Stella, and Adeline.

Shannon Beador Claims Joel Had “Nothing but Love”for Her During Love Hotel Filming

In July 2024, Peacock announced the launch of Love Hotel, a reality dating show featuring notable personalities from the Real Housewives franchise. Cast members included Luann de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York, Shannon Beador from The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby from The Real Housewives of Potomac. Contestants would compete for the affections of Bravo’s most prominent bachelorettes.

Drama unfolded behind the scenes as Joel criticized the 60-year-old Shannon for what he labeled “subhuman”behavior during the show’s filming. Baffled by the sudden backlash, she recalled:

“I really don’t know what it’s about…An hour earlier that night before the wrap party, he had tears in his eyes and said, ‘I’m so happy for you.’

Shannon deemed it “silly”for Joel to suddenly attack her, considering he had “nothing but love”for her while filming the reality series. The deleted Instagram Story contained multiple slides criticizing the RHOC star’s interactions with other cast members. Joel wrote:

“Just because you’re a pathetic drunk on a reality television show best known for a string of failed relationships and a DUI doesn’t make you a star and does not give you license to treat the people you work with like they are subhuman. Period.”

He went on to mention that “they”would make him delete his post, but offered to share videos with anyone who DM’d him for them. Joel made two further posts reiterating his criticism, including:

“Well that was quick. Anyway. Don’t regret it hope you screenshot it. Hope she suffers.”

The comedian also referenced Shannon’s ex-husband, John Janssen, referring to him as a “poor guy”for being in a relationship with her. According to The Queen of Bravo Instagram account, Joel even took to Instagram Live to further disparage Shannon.

During the live show, she expressed her disappointment over the negative portrayal Joel created, labeling it untrue and demeaning. Shannon stated that she enjoyed her experience filming Love Hotel and looked forward to seeing what the future holds.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs every Thursday at 9 PM ET exclusively on Bravo.
