Revealed: Monster Hunter Wilds Pre-load Date and Time
Monster Hunter Wilds has officially announced its release date, set to launch in early 2025. This confirmation came during the latest PlayStation State of Play event, which also saw the commencement of pre-orders across all platforms, alongside a wealth of details regarding pre-order bonuses, editions, and more.
As pre-orders for Monster Hunter Wilds go live, the PlayStation Store has provided the confirmed pre-load date and time. Based on the official PC system requirements, players should prepare for the game to take up over 100 gigabytes of storage. Therefore, those who pre-order the game will be eager to learn all pertinent details about pre-loading.
When Can You Pre-load Monster Hunter Wilds?
According to the PlayStation 5 pre-order page for Monster Hunter Wilds, the game will be available for pre-load on February 26, 2025, at midnight local time. It’s important to note that the February 26, 2025, pre-download date applies specifically to consoles. For PC users, based on Capcom’s previous releases, pre-loads for Wilds should commence approximately 24 hours before the official launch.
Additionally, pre-loading is only available to players who pre-order Monster Hunter Wilds on their chosen platforms. This feature enables users to download the majority of the game’s files in advance, ensuring they are ready for launch. While opting for pre-loading (similar to pre-orders) is entirely up to the player, it may be advantageous for those with slower internet connections. By pre-loading, players can jump right into the game without waiting for downloads post-release.
Moreover, Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will demand more than 100GB of storage. Specifically, the game’s PC system requirements indicate a need for approximately 140GB of SSD space. Downloading such a significant amount of data can take considerable time, especially with limited bandwidth. Pre-loading mitigates this issue, allowing players to acquire most of the game more than 24 hours prior to the official release.
Upon launch, a minor day-one patch might be required, but once that is installed, players can immediately dive into the game on their preferred platform.
Monster Hunter Wilds serves as a direct sequel to Monster Hunter World, which remains the top-selling title within Capcom’s lineup. The anticipation surrounding this forthcoming game is immense, fitting for any mainline Monster Hunter release, and excitement continues to build for this latest entry in the beloved action RPG franchise.
It is yet to be seen if the game will outshine its predecessors upon its global release on February 28, 2025.
