Resident Evil Requiem: Impressive Performance on Nintendo Switch 2

When CAPCOM officially announced the launch of Resident Evil Requiem for the Nintendo Switch 2, there were significant concerns among fans regarding the console’s ability to handle the game effectively, especially given its comparatively lower specifications than current-generation platforms. However, recent footage revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2025 displayed the game operating seamlessly on Nintendo’s new console, alleviating some of those worries.

Insights from CAPCOM’s Game Director

In a candid interview with Famitsu, CAPCOM’s Game Director, Koshi Nakanishi, expressed surprise at how well Resident Evil Requiem performed on the Switch 2. He attributed this success largely to the capabilities of the RE Engine, which has been key in optimizing the game’s performance on various platforms.

“This game has been designed for scalability, ” Nakanishi noted.“We developed it with flexibility in mind, enabling it to function across a spectrum of hardware specifications—from high-end to lower-end setups. Thus, the Switch 2 was able to demonstrate its capabilities effectively. We deliberately avoided making the game’s performance heavily reliant on high-end specs, which allowed us to maintain smooth performance across diverse hardware environments. Even we were taken aback by how beautifully it operated.”

Demo Insights and Future Expectations

Furthermore, during the same interview, Game Producer Masato Kumazawa revealed that demo units available at TGS 2025 included both the Nintendo Switch 2 and laptop PCs. This suggests that if Resident Evil Requiem runs efficiently on the Switch 2, it may also translate well to a wide variety of PCs, although CAPCOM has yet to disclose official system requirements for these machines.

Advanced Graphics Features on PC

What we do know is that the PC version of Resident Evil Requiem will incorporate cutting-edge features such as NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and path tracing. While it is anticipated that other graphical upscaling technologies, including AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and Intel XeSS, will also be supported, these enhancements have not yet been officially confirmed.

As the gaming community eagerly awaits further updates, the positive reception of Resident Evil Requiem on the Nintendo Switch 2 is paving the way for broader expectations regarding cross-platform performance.
