Research Firm Forecasts Apple to Introduce iPhone 17e Alongside iPhone 16e in 2026, Suggesting These Models May Join ‘Part Of The Program’

With the retirement of the iPhone SE 3 and the debut of the iPhone 16e, Apple has shifted its perspective on what constitutes a ‘budget’ iPhone. Starting at $599, the iPhone 16e boasts numerous exciting features, though the company’s decisions on which specifications to retain or eliminate raise some eyebrows.

However, the iPhone 16e is not intended to be a standalone release. According to insights from industry research firms, Apple will not wait long to present its successor—rumored to be the iPhone 17e, potentially arriving as early as 2026.

iPhone 17e: Anticipated Pricing and Feature Enhancements

Though details about the potential launch of the iPhone 17e remain scarce, sources close to the industry suggest that a release could occur in the coming year. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) indicates that Apple might be adopting a strategy reminiscent of Google’s mid-range ‘a’ models. This approach allows consumers to enjoy flagship-quality hardware without the premium price tag typically associated with high-end smartphones.

“It appears that “e” phones may be part of the program going forward. Following the core iPhone 17 model launches in September, we expect Apple to announce an iPhone 17e around this time next year. That would mimic Google’s introduction of “a” models in its Pixel line months after the annual Spring launch of their flagship and Pro models in recent years.”

Projected shipments for the iPhone 16e are expected to reach around 22 million units in 2025, potentially generating over $13 billion in revenue for Apple. This projection stems from the use of components already prevalent in previous models, helping to not only enhance profit margins but also streamline manufacturing costs. The iPhone 17e is likely to maintain the same $599 starting price, but enhancements such as Apple’s new custom 5G modem with advanced mmWave support could be a significant addition to its specifications.
