Replaced: A New Release Window Announced for the Cyberpunk Platformer
Sad Cat Studios has officially updated the release window for Replaced, the highly anticipated 2.5D pixel-art, retro-futuristic platformer. Game director Yura Zhdanovich expressed confidence in the game’s launch, now set for Spring 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
A Journey Marked by Challenges
Initially announced in 2021, Replaced quickly captured the attention of gamers during its reveal, with fans eager for its planned 2022 release. However, unforeseen circumstances, primarily the invasion of Ukraine, significantly impacted the Belarus-based development team, leading to a delay that extended to five years.
The Impact of Global Events
If not for these tragic events, Zhdanovich believes that Replaced would have been completed long ago. The complex nature of game development further compounded these delays, pushing the anticipated launch to 2026. In a recent developer update via IGN, Zhdanovich provided insights into the game’s evolution, highlighting improvements made since its prototype phase.
Commitment to Excellence
In a press release, Zhdanovich acknowledged the extended timeline, stating, “We know that our community is incredibly excited to play REPLACED and it’s no secret that it’s taken longer than we initially thought to deliver that to you all – we apologise for that. We’ve always been trying to do what’s right for the project, which in turn means delivering a truly special experience. The good news is that we are now very close to finishing production.”
Looking Ahead to the Final Trailer
As fans await more news, there is optimism with a confirmed release window. Zhdanovich also teased the arrival of the final trailer later this year, which will unveil the specific release date for Replaced.
