Remedy Unveils New CEO and Reports Excellent Reception for CONTROL Resonant: “Our Most Ambitious Game Yet, Aiming to Make It a Must-Have”

Remedy Entertainment Announces New CEO Amid Positive Financial Outlook

In a significant leadership transition, Remedy Entertainment revealed its new Chief Executive Officer yesterday. This change follows the departure of Tero Virtala, who left the role in late October after nine years amid the fallout from the FBC: Firebreak debacle. This title, Remedy’s inaugural venture into online multiplayer gaming, was widely criticized for failing to offer engaging and replayable content, essential traits for success in this genre.

Meet the New CEO: Jean-Charles Gaudechon

The studio has appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its new CEO. Gaudechon brings over two decades of industry experience to the role, having held senior positions at notable companies such as CCP Games and Electronic Arts. Most recently, he served as the Senior Vice President and General/Group Manager at OneFootball and Sleeper, both platforms focused on sports app and fantasy sports.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Gaudechon stated:

I’m excited and honored to join Remedy at a pivotal time. The studio has a unique creative identity and a strong pipeline. My commitment is to protect what makes it special, deliver exceptional games, and scale Remedy in a way that builds lasting value. Remedy has the voice and the ambition to be a pillar of the industry’s future. We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way. I will be moving to Finland with my family and I’m incredibly excited about getting to work directly with the team at the studio.

Positive Financial Results Amidst Leadership Changes

This morning, Remedy Entertainment released its financial results for the last quarter and the full year, showcasing a positive trend. In Q4 2025, the company’s revenue surged by 46.3%, reaching €17.0 million compared to €11.7 million in Q4 2024. This increase was largely fueled by royalties from Alan Wake 2 and ongoing sales of Control.

For the entire fiscal year, Remedy’s revenue climbed 17.5% to €59.5 million, up from €50.7 million the previous year. Despite an operating profit of -€14.9 million—attributable to non-cash impairments linked to FBC: Firebreak—the operating cash flow remained robust at €4.5 million.

Impressive Sales and Future Prospects

In a statement, interim CEO Markus Mäki, who will continue until March 1 when Gaudechon officially assumes his duties, revealed that Control sales reached an impressive one million units in 2025 alone. This surge in sales occurred primarily following the announcement of the sequel, CONTROL Resonant, which has received excellent early feedback:

Player and community sentiment has been very positive, indicated by engaged fans and positive wishlist numbers. Our goal is to make the game a ‘must-have day-one purchase’ for the fans of Control and the action role-playing genre. The announcement at The Game Awards in December was a great kickstart to the ambitious global marketing campaign we have planned for CONTROL Resonant.

As a reminder, CONTROL Resonant is set to debut this year, although a specific launch window has yet to be confirmed.
