This morning, Remedy Entertainment released its Q3 2025 financial report. Unsurprisingly, the news has not been favorable for the renowned Finnish studio. Earlier this month, Tero Virtala, who had been leading the company for nine years, stepped down following the disappointing news that their recent game, FBC: Firebreak, failed to meet expectations.
Q3 2025 Financial Highlights
Despite marking its 30th anniversary, Remedy’s financial outcomes for the quarter were alarming:
- Revenue plummeted by 32.0%, dropping to €12.2 million, down from €17.9 million.
- EBITDA decreased significantly to €0.7 million, compared to €6.6 million in the previous year.
- Operating profit (EBIT) recorded a loss of €16.4 million, resulting in an operating profit margin of -135.1%, down from 13.4% of revenue.
- Cash flow from operations was reported at €11.3 million, an increase from €8.0 million in the same quarter last year.
Looking Ahead: Interim CEO’s Reassurances
In light of these challenges, interim CEO Markus Mäki addressed the concerns of investors and fans alike, asserting that current projects remain on schedule. He expressed optimism about achieving ‘significant commercial success’ by 2030.
“Despite challenges with FBC: Firebreak, our other in-development projects are progressing according to plan. The majority of our effort goes into working with our established franchises – Control and Alan Wake – which we continue to invest in and expand into other media as part of our long-term strategy.”
Mäki continued by highlighting that they are also collaborating on the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2 with Rockstar Games. He emphasized the importance of balancing product risk while continuing to innovate and develop engaging experiences for their audience, a commitment that has been integral to their brand for three decades.
Future Financial Goals
Looking ahead, Remedy has articulated specific financial objectives:
- Achieve a revenue that is double that of the previous year by 2027, followed by sustained growth.
- Reach an EBITDA margin of at least 30% by 2027, ensuring this performance is maintained thereafter.
Current Projects and Opportunities
Both Control 2 and the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 are currently in full production. Moreover, a new project is in the proof of concept phase, which is anticipated to be set within one of the existing franchises, such as Control or Alan Wake. This focus on expanding the ‘Remedy Connected Universe’ not only underscores the company’s commitment to its core titles but also its strategy for future expansion.
