Exciting New Updates for Control: A Boost for Ultimate Edition Players

Nearly six years since its initial release, Remedy Entertainment’s acclaimed action title, Control, is receiving fresh updates, showcasing the developer’s commitment to enhancing player experience. Recently, Remedy revealed a surprise update designed specifically for all owners of the Control Ultimate Edition on PC. This update not only improves graphics and rectifies various bugs but also makes previously exclusive content available to the wider player base.

New Content Unveiled

One of the most notable additions is the side mission originally exclusive to the PlayStation 4 Digital Deluxe edition, named Dr. Yoshimi Tokui’s Guided Imagery Experience. This unique quest features voiceover work from renowned game designer Hideo Kojima, adding a layer of prestige to the mission.

In addition to the new side mission, several pre-order exclusive items are now available to all players. These include the Astral Dive Suit, Tactical Response Gear, and Urban Response Gear. Players can claim these items at the Control Point located in the Central Executive Sector.

Enhanced Graphics and Performance Features

PC gamers will benefit from several performance enhancements with this update. Key features include:

  • Integration of HDR support, offering a more vibrant color palette.
  • The introduction of a new Ultra ray tracing preset, which improves ray accuracy per pixel and enhances temporal stability.
  • Support for ultrawide monitors, extending compatibility to displays with aspect ratios up to 48:9.
  • Field of View (FOV) scaling options for greater gameplay immersion.
  • Updates to SDR conversion, resulting in a transition from 8-bit to 10-bit color depth, minimizing color banding issues.
  • Improvements in graphics adapter detection during startup, automatically optimizing between DX11 and DX12 as needed.
  • Resolutions exceeding 4K are now supported, alongside general texture streaming optimizations and bug fixes related to ray tracing.

DLSS Enhancements

The update also includes significant improvements to DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology, now at version 3.7. Enhancements comprise:

  • Support for arbitrary resolutions and the introduction of DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing).
  • Higher temporal stability for a smoother visual experience.
  • Restoration of film grain in DLSS SR for a more cinematic aesthetic.
  • Refinements to shadow resolution when DLSS is in use.
  • Resolution-dependent mip map bias to boost texture quality, particularly under performance settings.

General Fixes and Improvements

The update also addresses a range of general issues:

  • Audio adjustments in cinematics and end credits to eliminate unintentional channel mixing.
  • Multiple bug fixes aimed at improving overall game stability.
