Following a narrow escape from the clutches of the Ice Elves, Kim Chul ventured into a forest where he encountered a shocking sight: all the Ice Bears lay lifeless. Believing the Ice Elves to be responsible for the massacre, he quickly retreated. During his flight, Kim Chul crossed paths with Han and other members of Sung Jin-woo’s team, igniting his fury at seeing low-ranking Hunters equipped with premium gear and supplies. Intent on wreaking havoc, Kim Chul prepared to attack, but Sung Jin-woo intervened just in time to protect his allies.
Sung Jin-woo Confronts the Ice Elves

With Kim Chul’s attack thwarted, Sung Jin-woo recognized the looming threat of the Ice Elves. Requiring clarification, he demanded they reveal themselves. Although the Ice Elves struggled with human language, Sung Jin-woo was unique in his ability to communicate with them. The Ice Elf leader disclosed that they hunted humans due to an internal compulsion, but when nearing Sung Jin-woo, this compulsion vanished. This revelation piqued his interest, prompting him to inquire about the leader’s true essence, only to receive cryptic and unintelligible responses.
The Ice Elf leader ultimately requested the surrender of the humans, a demand that Sung Jin-woo firmly rejected. Instead, he summoned the fallen Ice Bears and his other soldiers. While they battled against the regular Ice Elves, Sung Jin-woo faced off against the leader, Barca. This clash highlighted his need for greater strength to defeat such a formidable opponent.
The Coalition: Iron, Igris, and Sung Jin-woo Against Barca

In a twist of fate, Sung Jin-woo harnessed Kim Chul’s essence, transforming him into a shadow soldier named Iron. Knowing he must exert all his might to conquer Barca, the trio relentlessly pursued their adversary. Though they forced Barca onto the defensive, none could seal the deal to end his threat. However, utilizing his wits and abilities, Sung Jin-woo managed to gain the upper hand and inflict significant damage on Barca. As the battle ensued, victory seemed increasingly within reach, culminating in a brutal showdown that saw Barca ultimately defeated by Iron’s weapon.

Despite overcoming Barca, Sung Jin-woo’s attempt to convert him into a shadow soldier fell short. Disappointed yet resolute, he exited the red gate with only the weapon as a trophy. Once outside, Baek Yoon-ho confronted him, eager to understand the events transpired within the gate. In a tense exchange, Sung Jin-woo reminded the S-rank Hunter of the lives he had saved within the White Tiger Guild, prompting Baek Yoon-ho to acknowledge his missteps and allow him departure. Before parting ways, Baek Yoon-ho tasked Ahn with recruiting Sung Jin-woo to the White Tiger Guild by any means necessary.
