X-Men #10 by Jed MacKay, Netho Diaz, Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, Sean Parsons, and Clayton Cowles
In the gripping storyline of X-Men #10, penned by Jed MacKay and illustrated by Netho Diaz, the agency O*N*E launches a surprise attack on the Alaska-based X-Men headquarters. During this hostile engagement, agent Lundqvist escalates tensions by threatening all out war against the X-Men. Responding with determination, Cyclops underscores the potential devastation posed by the Phoenix if he were to be harmed. He asserts that the cosmic entity would retaliate with catastrophic consequences.

When Quentin Quire inquires about the specifics of Cyclops’ backup strategy, Scott reveals that Kid Omega is integral to this plan. This pivotal moment signifies a critical turning point in their alliance.
Quentin Quire’s Evolution: From Villain to Hero as Kid Omega
Can Kid Omega Triumph Over the Phoenix?
Kid Omega, also known as Quentin Quire, has undergone a remarkable transformation throughout his narrative arc. Initially characterized as an unlikable antihero, he has successfully redeemed himself to become a trusted member of the X-Men—a turn of events that Cyclops publicly acknowledges by trusting him with the formidable task of facing the Dark Phoenix.
Quentin has showcased his extraordinary capabilities, such as his ability to psychically break away from the clutches of Cassandra Nova and masterfully control both telepathy and telekinesis. Notably, in Generation X #87, he influenced every member of Professor Xavier’s Institute to rise in rebellion. Furthermore, in Mighty Thor #19, Kid Omega managed to convince the Phoenix Force to select him as its host. These accomplishments solidify his potential to combat the threat posed by the Dark Phoenix.

The looming dread of the Dark Phoenix’s resurgence intensifies with O*N*E’s aggressive actions against Cyclops and his ensemble. Yet, Cyclops’s faith in Quentin Quire as his contingency plan highlights both the growth of Kid Omega and the strategic nature of this decision. Although Kid Omega may not rival the Phoenix’s power outright, his status as an omega-level telepath grants him the unique ability to engage and potentially reason with the cosmic entity.
Given Quentin’s established relationship with the Phoenix Force and his remarkable abilities, it is clear that Cyclops has made a calculated choice in including Kid Omega within his X-Men roster, preparing for any eventualities should the Phoenix ever pose a deadly threat again.
