Battlefield Redsec has officially launched and is now available to all players for free across various platforms. This engaging addition to Battlefield 6 introduces a unique sub-section featuring its own modes. While we’ve detailed the entirety of this package in another guide, this article aims to highlight the intriguing aspects of the battle royale experience within Redsec.
Whether you’re a seasoned Battlefield veteran or a newcomer, you may find some surprises among the specific gameplay mechanics and core features of this new battle royale mode. Below, we’ve compiled some essential tips based on our experiences in Redsec’s battle royale mode.
Embrace Long-Range Combat
A key characteristic of Redsec’s battle royale mode is its emphasis on long-range engagements. This may seem apparent to those familiar with the genre, but it’s particularly pronounced in this title. Factors such as player health, armor plates, character mobility, and weapon precision contribute to a battlefield environment where quick, close-range skirmishes are rare.
While early-game encounters immediately following your drop may lead to close-quarters combat as players scramble for weapons, it’s crucial to understand that as the game progresses, most exchanges will occur from a distance. The game’s advanced destruction mechanics also add a layer of depth to engagements in urban areas, necessitating a strategic approach rather than relying solely on gunplay. Choose your Custom Weapon wisely to suit these long-range scenarios.
Revival Mechanics—Know Your Limits
Building on the last point, players who find themselves downed in Redsec have alarmingly low health. Although you can attempt to evade attackers while downed, visibility plays a critical role; if an enemy spots more than half your body, your time is limited—less than a second in many cases.
Strategic play is essential here. Instead of simply waiting to be revived, coordinate with a teammate, ideally a Support class player who can revive you quickly. Additionally, keep an eye out for Defibrillators in chests to accelerate your squadmates’ revivals.
Explore the Variety of Chests
As you traverse the expansive map of Battlefield Redsec BR, you’ll encounter several types of Chests, each offering a variety of rewards that include weapons, armor, gadgets, and more.Common Chests, recognizable by their green hue, are the most frequently found.
Rare Chests, identifiable by their distinctive black-and-red design, offer superior equipment with a higher likelihood of containing powerful Strike Packages. The most coveted are the orange Class Chests, which are filled with equipment tailored to the specific class that opens them. This means if you’re playing as an Assault class, you’ll receive a corresponding Assault Kit complete with a customized weapon and gadgets.
It’s advisable to have a teammate from a different class open these chests to maximize the benefit for the entire squad, ensuring everyone is outfitted appropriately for the challenges ahead.
Complete Missions for Custom Weapon Drops
To secure Custom Weapon Drops, completing Missions is your best bet. You can rely on match-wide events for drops, but often the straightforward way is through actively finishing Missions. Many Missions reward you with a Custom Weapon Drop for your squad’s use.
While multiple Missions can yield further Custom Weapons, it’s essential to read the descriptions and reward screens carefully as not all Missions will provide such benefits. Typically, higher-risk Missions—like Counter Missions—offer more valuable rewards, so choose wisely.
Use Upgrade Kits Wisely
Upgrade Kits can often confuse players regarding their functionality. To clarify: these kits enhance the rarity of your weapon as long as it remains below the Advanced (purple) level. However, each Upgrade Kit can only improve one weapon and must correspond to its specific weapon type.
You can deploy an Upgrade Kit in two distinct ways: you can immediately use it in-world while holding the applicable weapon type or collect several and check your inventory for eligible weapons. It’s ideal to share unnecessary Upgrade Kits, especially if your weapon is already Advanced or if the kit type doesn’t suit your needs, allowing for a choice between upgrades—like a better scope or larger magazine.
Conserve Vehicle Ammo
In survival situations, running out of ammo can be dire. If you’re low on supplies, utilizing your vehicles for cover becomes paramount. A useful tactic involves entering a vehicle to spot your targets before exiting to engage them directly. Be aware, though—stepping back inside won’t allow you to heal.
Even if vehicles are out of ammunition, they can still offer significant strategic value. Ensure your team has an Engineer to maintain the vehicle’s integrity during combat, and don’t abandon any vehicle simply because its ammo has been depleted.
