The mystery surrounding the Zodiac Killer’s identity continues to be a subject of intense discussion, and there’s no sign that this intrigue will diminish in the near future. This elusive serial killer was active in Northern California during the late 1960s.
Recently, conversations regarding this infamous figure have surged on Reddit, where users are speculating that there may be more complexities to the case than what mainstream media suggests. These discussions propose that the murders could have been carried out by more than just a single individual, hinting at possible group involvement.
This view sharply contrasts the narrative presented in the Netflix documentary, This Is the Zodiac Speaking, which primarily positions Arthur Leigh Allen as the leading suspect.
In relation to these Reddit discussions, one user commented:
“If the Zodiac was just one person, then it’s not him. But if he was part of a group, then there must be more than one Zodiac.”
Redditors Challenge the Theory of Arthur Leigh Allen as the Zodiac Killer
Following the release of a trailer for This Is the Zodiac Speaking on Netflix’s official YouTube channel, many users have engaged in in-depth discussions about the documentary.
This three-part series investigates Arthur Leigh Allen’s potential connection to the Zodiac murders, raising numerous questions and challenging accepted narratives.
As previously noted, a significant number of Reddit users expressed skepticism regarding Arthur Leigh Allen’s role as the Zodiac Killer. Many believe that if he had any involvement, he likely was not the only one involved in the crimes.
“I don’t think Arthur Leigh Allen is the Zodiac Killer. His fingerprints didn’t match those from the murder of Paul Stine, his handwriting differed significantly from the letters attributed to the Zodiac, and his DNA did not correspond with the saliva found on the envelopes. Allen was certainly disturbed, but he wasn’t the Zodiac Killer,”wrote one Reddit user.
“Personally, I doubt that any of the proposed suspects are the Zodiac. I also think the murders ceased because the actual Zodiac had either died or became incapacitated,”another user remarked.
“It was definitely more than one person,”stated a Redditor.
Other Suspects in the Zodiac Killer Case
In addition to Arthur Leigh Allen, several other individuals have been suspected of involvement in the Zodiac killings, including:
- Earl Van Best Jr.
- Joseph Bevilacqua
- Lawrence Kane
- Gary Francis Post
- Paul Doerr
- Richard Marshall
- Ross Sullivan
- Richard Gaikowski
There are other names that have been mentioned in relation to the Zodiac Killer, but they have since been cleared of any suspicion. Notable figures such as Charles Manson, his followers, and Ted Bundy were all ruled out as potential suspects. Ted Kaczynski, commonly known as the Unabomber, was also exonerated in initial investigations of the Zodiac killings.
Estimated Victims of the Zodiac Killer
The Zodiac Killer is thought to have claimed around 37 victims, as indicated in a letter he sent, in which he confessed to multiple murders. Official investigations confirm five of these deaths, along with two injuries. His criminal activities spanned from 1968 to 1969, with police estimates suggesting he may have killed between 20 and 28 individuals during this period.
For those interested in delving deeper into the Zodiac murders and Arthur Leigh Allen’s alleged involvement, the documentary This Is the Zodiac Speaking is available for streaming on Netflix.
