AWS Outage Disrupts Online Services, Gaming Platforms Begin to Recover
This afternoon’s AWS outage impacted approximately half of the internet, causing disruptions across various applications and services. Fortunately, users are beginning to notice a gradual restoration of services, particularly among major gaming networks such as Fortnite, Roblox, and the PlayStation Network (PSN).
Status Updates from Gaming Services
As of this update, Epic Games has declared that “All Systems Operational”are back online, as stated on their service status page. This includes popular titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and the Unreal Engine. Meanwhile, Roblox is still dealing with an “Active Incident, ”as reflected on their service status page. However, recent updates indicate that AWS has confirmed operational status is restored for Roblox.
PlayStation Network and EA Services Restored
The PlayStation Network has also announced that all services are back to normal, as reported on their status page. Additionally, EA has confirmed that services for all its games, including Battlefield 6, are operational again following the issues linked to the AWS outage. This news is particularly welcome for gamers who were experiencing disruptions during gameplay.
Current AWS Service Status
The official AWS Service Health Dashboard currently indicates “Impacted”status in the Northern Virginia region, while other areas appear unaffected. If you still encounter connectivity issues during matchmaking or while accessing the PlayStation Store, it may be due to residual effects from the outage, assuming your home internet has been ruled out as the cause.
Looking Ahead: Resilience and Recovery
With these positive signs of restoration, it is anticipated that any lingering outages will be resolved promptly. This is reassuring for online gamers looking forward to uninterrupted playtime today.
