On October 22, 2024, episode 11 of BTS’ Jin’s web series, Run Jin, showcased an entertaining yet spooky theme. Typically, episodes of Run Jin offer a teaser for what’s next; however, this particular installment announced a temporary pause before the upcoming episode is released.
The preview highlighted Jin preparing for a journey in a striking vehicle, the impressive new MINI JCW Countryman. The segment concluded with Jin driving off, captivated by the sleek car and eager for the next adventure. The subtitles noted:
“Run Jin will be back shortly! Stay tuned”
This unforeseen break caught many fans off guard. However, several speculated it might be due to Kim Seok-jin, better known as BTS’ Jin, being preoccupied with the promotion of his highly anticipated solo debut album, HAPPY, which is set to drop on November 15 at 2 PM KST. One enthusiastic fan took to social media, saying:
“How you know it’s comeback time”
Since completing his military service in June, Jin has been extremely active. He has organized fan meetings, served as a torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, tirelessly produced content for ARMYs, and has been focused on his debut album among other endeavors.
As fans eagerly await the album’s release following Run Jin’s hiatus, many took to X to seek updates on HAPPY. Some expressed that the Moon singer truly deserves a moment of rest.
“We’ll have plenty of content during his album promotion, so it’s all good,”a fan commented.
“The short hiatus from Run Seok-jin is likely to prepare for his album and its promotions, meaning we’ll still get to see him a lot,”another user mentioned.
“IT’S FINE, HE DESERVES A BREAK,”an ARMY wrote.
Others remained hopeful, speculating that the next installment of Run Jin might feature BTS’ J-Hope, who just completed his military service on October 17.
“Run Jin is taking a break so that it can be Run 2seok with Hobi back from the military,”a fan optimistically stated.
“We’ll be eagerly waiting for its return, and I have a hunch one of the next episodes will include Hobi,”another comment expressed.
Highlights from Run Jin’s Comedy-Filled Horror Episode
Titled ‘I Met a Ghost for Real,’ episode 11 of Run Jin takes BTS’ eldest member through a comedic haunted house experience. Filmed at the Korean Folk Village’s “The Haunted Den,”the episode was enhanced with various effects.
In this episode, Jin time-travels back to the Joseon Dynasty amid a famine, donning traditional attire from the era. His task was to gather five voodoo dolls to complete his mission and return to 2024. The episode was filled with comedic moments and memorable entertainment.
Accompanied by a bodyguard, Jin arrives at the entrance where he encounters a weeping woman—his first ghostly challenge. As she dabs her tears with tissues, Jin humorously questions the existence of tissue boxes during the Joseon era. His initial task involved maintaining a tissue aloft without using his hands or feet, which he successfully completed, leading to his next ghostly interaction.
For the second challenge, he was tasked with drawing the ghost’s portrait while nervously trying to impress her with his charm, which ultimately succeeded. Before entering the haunted house, Jin faced his third ghost and played a round of Twister, continuing to marvel at how modern games could appear in the historical setting. He triumphed over this challenge too.
Despite feeling jittery and sweating through his ghostly encounters, Jin humorously queried:
“What in the world is my bodyguard doing?”
As he explored the haunted attraction filled with dim lighting, faux blood, and actors in creepy costumes haunting his every move, Jin remained focused on locating all five voodoo dolls. His emotions fluctuated between fright and humor; when he felt a chill, he jocularly blamed the air conditioning, and when he heard spooky sounds, he speculated about hidden speakers.
At one frightening encounter with a ghostly figure, he exclaimed in shock, causing his mouth to be blurred during the airing, much to the delight of fans when the teaser was released. When confronted by a hungry ghost that asked if he could eat his leg, Jin whimsically responded:
“If you’re starved, eat some food! Not my leg, eat food.”
Jin successfully collected all the dolls, displaying exemplary manners towards the ghosts, referring to them respectfully as “Miss Ghost,””Ma’am,”and others.
A final spooky surprise awaited him as he neared the exit, but he managed to escape the haunted house. The mission concluded with Jin earning a passage back to 2024, and a subtitle revealed that the “ghosts”were bewitched by his good looks.
“Reportedly, Jin’s striking appearance has become a legendary story among ghosts.”
At the end of the episode, BTS’ Jin hilariously reverted to his playful persona, revealing he undertook the challenge at the request of ARMYs. With a cheerful exclamation of “Run Jin!”he wrapped up the episode.
