Highlights from the Season 9 Premiere of The Real Housewives of Potomac

The season opener, titled A Crash Course In Deflection, begins with the shocking news of Karen’s DUI arrest. Concerned friends Ashley and Mia worry about the emotional toll this incident may take on Karen, noting that this isn’t her first encounter with such trouble. Gizelle also shared her worries, mentioning that Karen has changed from who she used to be.

A month later, Gizelle visits Karen for lunch, bringing along two “Karen specials.”An attempt to discuss Karen’s legal troubles leads to little revelation, although Karen admits the loss of her parents greatly impacted her that night.

Meanwhile, the past disputes between Mia and Gordon come to light, with Mia accusing Gordon of confinement during a prior incident, while Gordon hints at Mia’s infidelity. The tension escalates as Mia insists on a paternity test to clarify her son’s parentage with Gordon.

Ashley and Wendy are both entering new chapters in their lives, with Ashley pursuing a divorce from Michael after two years of separation. Concurrently, Wendy has submitted her resignation in conjunction with a desire to spend more time with her family.

Karen, along with some new cast members, indulges in dress shopping for the upcoming hattitude party. Stacey opens up about her recent divorce, which pulled her back to Maryland. As they celebrate with champagne, Stacey’s concern for Karen surfaces when Karen opts for water due to her medication.

Gizelle organizes a birthday luncheon for Karen, complete with custom hats for each housewife. Wendy arrives with the intention of reconciling with Gizelle after previous conflicts, an effort appreciated by Gizelle. Another newbie, Jassi, makes her entrance alongside Mia.

Jacqueline spices things up by claiming that Karen appeared inebriated during a recent phone call, though she lacks proof. When Karen arrives, she makes it clear that she wants only genuine friends around her, rejecting any “fake bi**hes.”

Each housewife receives a hat adorned with distinct monikers—Karen’s “Hollywood”and Mia’s “The King,” the latter referencing playful escapades with multiple men. The atmosphere shifts as Gizelle probes Mia about her relationships, leading to an uncomfortable revelation regarding their children observing Mia in bed with Inc. This provokes an outburst from Mia, who asserts her kids are thriving before storming out.
