Recap of The Braxtons Season 1 Finale: Towanda Gets Engaged at Toni’s Live Vegas Residency Concert

The Braxtons aired its season finale, the eighth episode of the revival season, on September 27, 2024, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. This reality series continues the legacy of Braxton Family Values and features Toni Braxton alongside her sisters Towanda, Trina, and Tamar. The cast acknowledged the heartbreaking passing of Traci Braxton, who succumbed to esophageal cancer at the age of 50. In spite of their devastating loss, the family navigated ongoing conflicts, with Tamar voicing her frustration about learning the news later than the rest of the family.

Leading up to the finale, Towanda dealt with personal issues regarding her relationship, as her long-term boyfriend, Sean Hall, had yet to propose. Meanwhile, Toni was shown preparing for her debut show with comedian Cedric The Entertainer for their Love And Laughter tour, even amidst health concerns.

What occurred in The Braxtons season 1 finale?

Toni announced that her show was set to debut at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas for a spectacular 20-week run. After recovering from bronchitis, she expressed her determination to return strong and better than ever. Additionally, Trina invited Evelyn to her cooking show and shared that counseling had been instrumental in overcoming her drinking addiction.

Towanda made an appearance on Ryan Cameron’s radio show to promote her next endeavors. During the show, she revealed her choice to go bald as a supportive gesture for Traci during her cancer battle, also highlighting the importance of raising awareness for alopecia. Towanda announced she would be launching a skincare line aimed at individuals with alopecia.

Tamar sought closure regarding Traci’s passing by visiting spiritual advisor Taz Singh. As previously noted by Trina, there had been many disagreements between Traci and Tamar. During a spiritual connection, Taz conveyed Traci’s desire to say “I’m sorry”to Tamar.

“She says, ‘Before I passed, I did a lot of things that I wish I could do differently. I love each and every one of you. Just remember you are my baby. And what do we do when we have a baby? We protect you and that’s what I did with you,’”said Taz.

This revelation left Tamar tearful on The Braxtons as she expressed her love for Traci and hoped for another opportunity to be a better sister. She also disclosed that she had difficult, overdue conversations with Traci on her deathbed. Tamar showed her gratitude to Taz for facilitating this closure as they bid farewell.

Trina and Tamar were present at Toni’s opening night performance, where Toni even attempted to tell jokes alongside Cedric. Despite facing challenges, Toni captivated a full audience and later celebrated with her family and crew. The following day, Evelyn and Towanda joined the sisters, although Tamar left to tend to her child. Trina shared that both she and Towanda would be participating in Toni’s show.

Trina mentioned that she received no instructions for her stage performance. Cedric called the ladies on stage, and they performed The Toiletpaper Song. In a surprise moment, Cedric invited Towanda’s boyfriend, Sean, on stage, where he seized the opportunity to propose to her, dropping to one knee and presenting a ring.

As the season finale approached its conclusion, the sisters reflected on the significant events of the past year. Watch the first season of The Braxtons airing on WeTV.
