Recap of Dear Hyeri Episodes 3 & 4: Hyeri Encounters Kang Ju-yeon’s Mother and Jung Hyun-oh Supports Joo Eun-ho Through a Panic Attack

Dear Hyeri, featuring Shin Hye-sun, Lee Jin-wook, and Kang Hoon, released its episodes 3 and 4 on September 30 and October 1, 2024, respectively, on ENA. In the third episode of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho (Shin Hye-sun) questioned Jung Hyun-oh (Lee Jin-wook) about his reason for rescuing her from a refrigerated trailer. He revealed that producer Kim Mi-yeon was unable to assist her, and because there was a dead body involved, he had to intervene personally.

Joo Eun-ho insisted that Jung Hyun-oh refrain from helping her in the future, even if she found herself on the brink of death. He expressed his disappointment, stating he was ashamed of her. Meanwhile, it was disclosed that Kang Ju-yeon’s brother, Kang Se-yeon (Ji Yun-seong), had tragically died in an accident, and their mother held Kang Ju-yeon responsible for the loss.

Kang Ju-yeon believed that becoming a news announcer would bring happiness to his deceased brother. He left military life to pursue this new career path. In the latest episodes of Dear Hyeri, Kang Ju-yeon (Kang Hoon) introduced Hyeri to his mother, while Joo Eun-ho experienced a panic attack in the newsroom, prompting Jung Hyun-oh to go out of his way to support her.

Dear Hyeri Episodes 3-4 Recap: Hyeri Writes Her First Letter to Joo Eun-ho

In episode 3, Joo Eun-ho was compelled to apologize to her announcer team for violating the rule that restricted field work to no more than twice. However, she emphasized her desire for recognition of her hard work, even if it came after years of dedication at the media agency. Joo Eun-ho stated that if her ambitious actions offended anyone, she would sincerely apologize.

She reflected on Jung Hyun-oh’s criticism regarding his embarrassment over their relationship, urging her to improve her behavior and strive to be a more respectable individual. Hurt by his harsh words, she retorted that she was comfortable being mediocre and couldn’t comply with his request as she didn’t control her level of mediocrity.

By the conclusion of episode 3 of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho visited the media agency where Kang Ju-yeon worked, seeking to recall how her alternate personality, Hyeri, met him. Coincidentally, Jung Hyun-oh was also there for a workshop.

In the fourth episode of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho fled upon hearing Jung Hyun-oh summon her to Kang Ju-yeon’s office. After fainting in the restroom, she awoke as Hyeri in front of Kang Ju-yeon, having no memory of the morning’s events.

A few days later, during a dinner with Hyeri and his colleague Baek Hye-yeon (Jo Hye-joo), who harbors feelings for Kang Ju-yeon, he received an urgent call from the nursing home regarding his mother’s unusual behavior and left abruptly. Uncharacteristically, he returned and invited Hyeri to accompany him.

Upon meeting Kang Ju-yeon’s mother, Hyeri introduced herself as his girlfriend. The mother occasionally referred to him as Kang Se-yeon, forgetting his existence following his brother’s death. With her unique demeanor, Hyeri was able to connect with his mother, explaining that it was a blessing to be alive and urging her to appreciate Kang Ju-yeon’s life.

Later, Hyeri visited her psychiatrist, sharing her happiness about being in love and clearly stating her identity as Hyeri rather than Joo Eun-ho, expressing her desire to remain as Hyeri. After returning home, she penned her first letter to Joo Eun-ho, pleading for her not to take her body back as she had finally escaped her monotonous life and found true happiness. The next day, Joo Eun-ho was perplexed while reading the letter, trying to piece together what had transpired.

Later in Dear Hyeri episode 4, Joo Eun-ho experienced a panic attack in the newsroom after hearing a story about two sisters, which reminded her of her own sister, Ju Hye-ri, who vanished after a graduation trip. Jung Hyun-oh quickly came to her side, enveloping her in a comforting embrace.

They managed to complete the news broadcast successfully. Jung Hyun-oh held Joo Eun-ho’s hand and guided her out of the newsroom, refusing to let go as they reached the elevator, where she broke down in tears. She urged him to leave but her emotional state contradicted her words.

He assisted her in hiding from others in the elevator, and when they reached the ground floor, Joo Eun-ho hesitated to exit, prompting Jung Hyun-oh to lean in and kiss her.

The developments in Dear Hyeri remain to be seen.

Dear Hyeri is broadcast every Monday and Tuesday on ENA and subsequently available on Rakuten Viki.
