Recap of A Virtuous Business Episodes 7 and 8: Kim Do-hyeon Discovers His Feelings for Han Jeong-suk Amidst Unfolding Events
The highly anticipated drama A Virtuous Business released its seventh and eighth episodes on November 2 and November 3, 2023, via the JBTC network and Netflix. The series features a stellar cast including Kim So-yeon, Kim Sun-young, Kim Sung-ryung, Lee Se-hee, and Yeon Woo-jin, supported by a talented ensemble. This gripping first season comprises a total of 12 episodes.
In the prior episode, we saw Kim Do-hyeon take on the role of babysitter for Min-ho, Jeong-suk’s son, while she attended her sales job. Meanwhile, a subplot unfolded as he delved into an unresolved arson case from the past. The latest developments saw Do-hyeon rescuing Jeong-suk from a precarious situation with Gyeong-sik, deepening his emotional connection with her as she assisted him in the search for his mother.
Episode 7: A Brave Rescue
The seventh episode kicks off with Jeong-suk in a state of fear as she attempts to evade Gyeong-sik. She naively visited his home intending to sell products to his wife, only to discover that she was misled; his wife was never there, and Gyeong-sik aimed to exploit her. Fortunately, Kim Do-hyeon, having already overheard conversations hinting at impending danger, intervened just in time, apprehending Gyeong-sik and ensuring Jeong-suk’s safe return home.
The following day, Do-hyeon needed Jeong-suk’s testimony against Gyeong-sik. Concerned about the potential backlash from the Geumje community, Jeong-suk requested confidentiality regarding the incident, even keeping it from her friends. Do-hyeon expressed his worry for her well-being and suggested that she take a brief respite from work.
As news of Gyeong-sik’s attempt to harm Jeong-suk spread throughout Geumje, her colleagues were eventually brought into the loop. The next day, she visited the police station with Ju-ri, Guem-hui, and Young-bok to provide their statements. To Jeong-suk’s astonishment, the community women rallied around her, cooperating in exposing Gyeong-sik’s previous actions.
During this tumultuous time, a new figure emerged: Du-seok, a character with a potentially dark past. Upon his return to Geumje, he approached Young-bok’s husband, Jong-sun, with an offer of a money-making venture. Jong-sun opted out, stating he had other intentions that involved crime, hinting at a shared history between the two men.
Ju-ri appeared to be developing a romantic interest in the chairman’s son, Eom Dae-geun, which added another layer to the unfolding narrative.
As episode seven came to a close, Jeong-suk vowed to assist Do-hyeon in locating his mother. He invited her to his home, sharing his research on Geumje and the chilling details of an arson case linked to the abduction of children thirty years prior. Jeong-suk was intrigued, taking notes during their discussion. However, she inadvertently left her notebook behind on her way home.
In a poignant final moment, Jeong-suk returned to retrieve her notebook but found Do-hyeon lost in a nightmare on his sofa. Startled awake, he instinctively hugged her, leaving the episode on an emotionally charged note.
Episode 8: A Deepening Connection
Episode eight unfolded with a dream sequence where Do-hyeon is embraced by Jeong-suk, only to wake up and find her standing outside his gate with her notebook. After a brief interaction, she departed.
On her journey home, Jeong-suk stumbled upon a cinema showing an explicit film, which sparked her curiosity about the women interested in her products. She organized a viewing and engaged with them to gather data that could assist her business.
Among those women, one was revealed to have once been Catholic, which prompted Jeong-suk to inquire about a wooden ring she possessed. This lead directed her back to Do-hyeon, but he confirmed that this woman was not the one they were seeking, having already questioned her.
Meanwhile, Young-bok visited a doctor for a checkup, only to learn she was pregnant. The news shocked her, particularly given their already strained financial situation while raising four children. When she shared this with Jong-sun, he was disheartened and frustrated, citing his struggles to find legitimate work due to his criminal background.
In a twist of fate, Jeong-suk and Do-hyeon visited a traditional clothing store to probe for leads regarding the missing children. Here, Do-hyeon learned the owner was still searching for her lost child, reigniting his hope that his own parents might also be searching for him.
As they explored the shop, Jeong-suk donned a stunning hanbok, prompting Do-hyeon’s admiration. He seemed to be falling for her as they painted a picture of a couple in love, but later, he grew distant, avoiding her calls as he struggled with his own emotions.
Jeong-suk’s confrontation regarding his behavior led to a tender moment where he embraced her, confirming his feelings at last.
The episode concluded with a dramatic cliffhanger: Jong-sun hurriedly made a phone call to the police, reporting the discovery of a dead body.
