Reasons Brittany and Leo from Love is Blind Season 7 Did Not Travel to Mexico
Love Is Blind season 7 debuted with the first six episodes on October 2, 2024, showcasing 14 single men and 15 single women participating in the social experiment to find lifelong partners. During their time in the pods, contestants are cut off from distractions like their phones. The series is hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, a couple who has been married since 2011.
This season, six couples advanced to the honeymoon phase of their relationships, traveling to Mexico. Among these couples were Brittany and Leo, who became engaged. However, the producers opted not to continue following their journey, revealing through a title card in episode 5 that the couple had broken up afterwards.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Chris Coelen explained that they aim to follow the paths of the cast as the outcomes remain undetermined. The production team selects couples they perceive as more “authentic”and genuinely interested in pursuing the experiment for love.
“We make a decision as to which couples we think are authentic. And when I say authentic, I mean most authentically likely to actually be at the altar and say I do,”said Chris.
He elaborated:
The couple that I think we felt least likely to do that were Leo and Brittany. So, we made a decision not to follow them after the pods ended.
Financial Constraints Limit Couple Count in Love Is Blind
Throughout their experience on Love Is Blind, contestants are prevented from seeing one another. The men and women communicate solely through voice, forcing them to forge authentic connections while being separated.
In prior seasons, producers typically followed five couples, a point reiterated by Chris when discussing why Brittany and Leo’s story was not included, particularly due to budget constraints associated with managing larger casts and crews.
“We film everything as it happens, and then after it ends, we piece together how we got there. We have the budget to follow five couples and sometimes we stretch to six couples, and we figure out how to stack our crews,” stated Chris.
Brittany’s Connection with Leo Diminishes Post-Reveal
Brittany and Leo initially connected well, sharing similar backgrounds as only children and both having lost their mothers to cancer. Determined to avoid trauma bonding, they established a solid foundation during their time in the pods on Love Is Blind. However, complications arose when Leo admitted he was torn between Brittany and another contestant, Hannah.
This situation strained Leo’s relationship with Hannah, leading her to choose Nick as her partner. Despite the confusion, Leo eventually proposed to Brittany with a rhyming poem, which she accepted.
In an interview with Tudum, Leo expressed that during their reveal, he sensed something was off. He noted that, while Brittany appeared beautiful, he felt he “wasn’t quite her type.”
On her part, Brittany mentioned that while Leo met her expectations in appearance, upon meeting, she sensed a shift in energy that she was reluctant to label. She acknowledged that even though they communicated comfortably while separated by a wall during the show, she realized immediately that Leo wasn’t her future husband, citing her intuition.
