“Real deal”, “The truth”: Josh Hart and Pat Beverley hail Caitlin Clark for avenging 2023 loss against Angel Reese
In the previous year, Caitlin Clark and her team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, suffered a 102-85 defeat to the LSU Tigers, led by Angel Reese, in the NCAA women’s championship. This highly anticipated game became the most-watched women’s basketball match in TV history, but unfortunately, Clark’s second-seeded team was unable to overcome their third-ranked opponents. The reigning national player of the year could only watch as Reese and her teammates celebrated their well-deserved victory.
Despite taking place in the Elite 8 instead of the finals, this year’s epic clash between Clark and Reese was just as intense. Iowa’s standout player was undeterred by the change in circumstances and put on a dazzling performance, scoring 41 points to lead her team to the Final Four for the second consecutive year. Even when LSU attempted a late comeback, Clark remained composed and made clutch shots, ultimately controlling the pace of the game and securing her heroic status.
Upon likely watching the action, Patrick Beverley promptly took to Twitter to express his appreciation for Caitlin Clark’s performance.
“She the Real Deal”
Josh Hart, also from the New York Knicks, expressed equally enthusiastic praise:
“Caitlin Clark the truth”
The first half of the Iowa-LSU game was a closely contested battle, with neither team gaining a significant advantage over the other. In the second half, Angel Reese sustained an ankle injury while attempting to block one of Clark’s shots. She briefly left the game to be evaluated by the training staff and spent some time riding the bike before ultimately rejoining her team to complete the game.
Despite playing with a sore ankle, Reese still managed to record an impressive stat line of 17 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals. She also received strong support from Flau’Jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow, and Mikaylah Williams.
Despite the outcome, Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes stole the show that night. Clark’s impressive performance included hitting 13 of 29 shots, with a 9-for-20 success rate from behind the arc. In addition, she contributed 12 assists, seven rebounds, two steals, and one block, making it one of the most spectacular displays in NCAA tournament history.
The Future is Bright for Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes
Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes continue their journey in March Madness. They have secured a spot in the Final Four, but winning the championship is still a distant goal. Clark and her fellow teammates eagerly await the outcome of the USC-UConn matchup.
Despite being surrounded by talented teammates, USC’s JuJu Watkins and UConn’s Paige Bueckers remain the cornerstones of their respective teams. However, the Hawkeyes still face a difficult road ahead in order to claim victory.
