Rapper San E Faces Assault Charges, Investigation Concludes

Jung San, widely recognized as the rapper San E, has recently been booked in connection with an assault investigation that has been underway for several months. The 39-year-old artist was ordered to face prosecution by the Seoul Mapo Police Station in October, following allegations of assault that have captured public attention.

Alongside him, his father, referred to as Mr. A, who was present during the altercation, is also facing similar charges. Reports indicate that a settlement was reached with the victim, which played a role in bringing the investigative process to a close for both San E and his father. This conclusion aligns with the provisions of Korea’s anti-will penalty law, stipulating that criminal behavior requires clear evidence of non-consent.

Details of the Incident

The incident that sparked the legal troubles occurred on August 28 at approximately 8:30 PM. San E allegedly confronted a passerby in an underpass located in the Mapo-gu district, using his cellphone as a weapon after urging the individual to “handle his bicycle properly.”Subsequently, the rapper reportedly inflicted injuries that included cuts near the victim’s eyes and damage to his dental health.

San E’s Response

In light of these events, San E publicly expressed remorse through a statement released by his legal representative. He stated, “I sincerely apologize to the victim for the recent assault incident.”The rapper emphasized his desire to meet the victim in person to seek forgiveness and acknowledged the disappointment he has caused among his fans, admitting, “Please scold me for my crimes.”

Career Background

San E made his debut in the music industry in 2008 and gained significant recognition as a producer on Mnet’s acclaimed audition program, Show Me the Money. He is celebrated for his popular tracks such as “Story of Someone I Know”and “A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness,”which have solidified his status in the K-hip hop scene.
