Rapper Bankroll Freddie Speaks Out on Racism After 12.5-Year Prison Sentence

Rapper Bankroll Freddie Sentenced to 12.5 Years Amidst Drug Charges

Bankroll Freddie, a prominent figure in the rap industry, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12.5 years following several serious charges stemming from his arrest in 2022. The announcement was made by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on November 1, stating that the rapper faced accusations of marijuana possession, distribution, firearm possession in relation to drug trafficking, and using a communication device to facilitate drug-related activities.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge James M. Moody, Jr. In addition to the prison term, Freddie has been mandated to undergo three years of supervised release post-incarceration and is required to pay a judgment of $242,000 as part of his conviction.

Freddie’s Response to the Sentencing

In a candid statement shared on Instagram on November 4, 2024, Bankroll Freddie expressed his disbelief regarding the sentence. Accompanied by Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture,”he maintained that he would not be imprisoned for marijuana and firearm-related charges, lamenting what he viewed as a vendetta against him.

“These Prosecutors And Judges Have A Vendetta Against Me In My State For Fighting Them… Every Charge I Beat On My Case They Gave Me Upward Variance… The Judge & Prosecutors Mad I Went To Trial & Beat 7 Out Of 10 Charges.”

Freddie highlighted his concern for his five children and described the punishment as “cruel and unusual,”stating his intention to continue fighting against perceived injustices within the system.

“It’s People With Way Worse Charges Than Me… Got Less Time Than Me. This Is Personal… Racism Is Real Especially In My State Arkansas…”

Background of the Charges

Born Freddie Demarus Gladney III, the rapper was arrested in April 2022 after being pulled over for speeding on Interstate 55 in Arkansas. During the traffic stop, law enforcement officials discovered an array of illegal items, including a homemade “ghost gun,”seven ammunition magazines, a significant quantity of marijuana, and a large sum of cash totaling $33,662.

Freddie was later indicted in May 2022 as part of an extensive FBI investigation targeting the gang known as Every Body Killas (EBK). This operation resulted in the arrest of Freddie’s father, Freddie Gladney Jr., along with 34 other individuals.

Further complicating his case, the rap artist faced a four-level increase in his sentencing due to allegations of leading a criminal enterprise with five or more people. Additionally, he incurred a two-level increase for making a probationary phone call to a co-defendant, allegedly directing them to remove firearms and drug-related items from his residence.

Judge Moody added another 2.5 years to Freddie’s sentence following the discovery of the “ghost gun”during his arrest, stating that it was capable of being converted into a fully automatic firearm.

Bankroll Freddie initially gained traction in the music industry with his 2019 mixtape, Saved by the Bales. He followed up with two additional mixtapes before releasing his debut album, Big Bank, in 2021. Despite his recent legal troubles, Freddie’s music continues to resonate with fans.
