After a lengthy period of anticipation surrounding Bloodborne, whether it involved hopes for a sequel, an animated series, or merely fresh concept art, the arrival of Lies of P has beautifully filled that gap.
This game stands as a remarkable homage to the essence of FromSoftware’s design philosophy. It transcends expectations by delivering a gaming experience that may even eclipse several of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s renowned works, which speaks volumes considering my admiration for his creations.
NEOWIZ masterfully reinterprets the classic tale of Pinocchio, expanding its universe significantly. This expansion lays fertile ground for the exceptional Overture DLC, which rivals previous acclaimed expansions like Artorias of the Abyss and The Ringed City.
Featuring dynamic level design, formidable and visually stunning adversaries, and engaging lore, Overture enhances the game’s mythos, enriching the player’s experience immensely. To honor this remarkable content, I’ve compiled a list aimed at identifying the toughest Lies of P: Overture bosses, thoughtfully arranged by their difficulty.
8 Premetamorphic Green Hunter
The Most Frustrating Boss

Location | Ergo Mining Site |
---|---|
Health | 23, 114 |
Therefore | 8, 807 |
Drops | x1 Quartz |
Anyone familiar with Lies of P would likely label the Green Monster of the Swamp as the most exasperating main boss, albeit with a relatively minor role in the DLC.Overture reintroduces a younger iteration of this notorious creature, sharing a similar moveset yet presenting a less perilous challenge due to lower speed and damage threshold. Its initial surprise may catch players off guard, however, it is also the only boss in Overture that I managed to conquer on my first attempt, given its less obstructive design.
While the Premetamorphic Green Hunter fulfills a secondary role, it indirectly connects players to the unfortunate backstory hidden in the game’s refuse, almost inspiring a sense of nostalgia through its struggle.
7 Tyrannical Predator
Frustrating Hitbox Issues

Location | Krat Zoo, Savanna Experience Center |
---|---|
Health | 24, 708 |
Therefore | 7, 621 |
Drops | Full Moonstone |
My preference for humanoid bosses stems from the frustration often induced by massive enemies, especially the Tyrannical Predator. While undeniably a formidable adversary that embodies the essence of Overture, it can also be disheartening due to its unclear hitboxes.
While its grab attack is exasperatingly tough to dodge, maintaining close proximity to its legs allows for a strategic approach to chip away at its health. The enormous size, while threatening, also becomes a double-edged sword, turning from an advantage to a vulnerability once players figure out the right tactics.
6 Markiona, Puppet of Death

Location | Krat Greenhouse, Greenhouse Interior |
---|---|
Health | Marquina 27, 697 / Arche Puppet 6, 9 |
Therefore | 16, 728 |
Drops | Macabre Puppeteer’s Ergo, Markiona’s Key |
Markiona, Puppeteer of Death stands out as one of my favorite dual bosses within Lies of P: Overture. Remarkably, her encounter remains engaging without the typical pitfalls associated with multi-boss battles.
The attack patterns are well-defined, they never coordinate simultaneous strikes, and the health distribution is manageable—making for a challenging yet fair experience. Her complexity in movement adds depth to the fight; although it’s not overly punishing, it requires players to remain vigilant.
5 Lumacchio, Leader of the Bastards
From Grace to Disaster

Location | Shipwreck Exterior, Archon Fleet |
---|---|
Health | 26, 458 |
Therefore | 4, 885 |
Drops | Golden Snail’s Mask, Golden Snail’s Tailcoat |
Lumacchio, Leader of the Bastards is designed to be quite the adversary, blending narrative antagonism with challenging gameplay as the final obstacle at the Archon Fleet Shipwrecks.
With three distinct phases, his combat style exceeds that of most base game NPCs due to ferocious attack speeds and a transformation that raises the stakes significantly. His final form elevates both his abilities and the overall challenge, making for a memorable showdown.
4 Two-faced Overseer
The Power of Fury

Location | Elixir Research Zone |
---|---|
Health | 44, 193 |
Therefore | 17, 351 |
Drops | x1 Full Moonstone of the Covenant, Bloody Cipher Machine |
The Two-faced Overseer is the first standard boss in Overture that managed to significantly delay my progress for positive reasons. Rather than being unfairly challenging, this encounter is dynamic and encourages mastery of the parrying mechanic, especially when he enters a rage state.
Facing this boss solo, rather than summoning aid, heightens the demand on player skill—forcing one to discern the delicate balance between dodging and parrying amidst his relentless combos. His substantial health pool, along with his ability to swiftly close the distance, puts immense pressure on players from the get-go.
3 Veronique, Leader of the Sweepers
A Will of Steel

Location | Coolant Control Room |
---|---|
Health | 21, 615 |
Therefore | 4, 400 |
Drops | Veronique’s Will, Coolant Control Room Console Key, Blue Sheep’s Mask, Blue Sheep’s Battle Apparel |
After hearing rumors of the formidable Veronique, Leader of the Sweepers, throughout the early game, confronting her reveals the validity of the hype. Armed with a formidable two-handed fire hammer, her agility combined with her hard-hitting nature makes her encounter daunting.
Fortunately, NEOWIZ places a Stargazer near her arena; attempting to defeat her takes numerous tries for most players, as her overwhelming speed and deceptive combo patterns demand complete attentiveness. Moreover, her ability to unexpectedly alter the pace adds an extra layer of challenge, requiring players to consistently adapt.
2 Anguished Guardian of the Ruins
The Ultimate Damage Sponge

Location | Ancient Ruins Excavation Site |
---|---|
Health | 52, 260 |
Therefore | 18, 712 |
Drops | Tortured Guardian’s Ergo |
The only thing I find more frustrating than an overly-large boss with impractical hitbox mechanics is one that requires an extensive amount of time to defeat, and the Anguished Guardian of the Ruins embodies both issues.
This boss boasts the highest health pool in the entire DLC, and its immense size makes it challenging to decipher the origin of its attacks, leading to guesswork. Its second phase introduces area-of-effect attacks that linger, compounding the difficulty and rendering dodging virtually ineffective due to the overwhelming number of hitboxes.
Despite impressive visuals, the Anguished Guardian of the Ruins becomes the most frustrating encounter of Overture, reminiscent of the less exciting aspects of Simon Manus, Awakened God.
1 Arlecchino, the Blood Artist
A Perfectly Demonic Closure

Location | Rose Garden Entrance |
---|---|
Health | 16, 128 (1st phase) / 23, 553 (2nd phase) |
Therefore | 20, 423 |
Drops | Secret Room Key, Leader’s Mask, Leader’s Battle Apparel, Monad’s Rose Sword |
Regardless of my prior views on Markiona, I cannot deny that Arlecchino, the Blood Artist presents an unforgettable challenge that action game enthusiasts will cherish as one of the finest bosses ever conceived.
As Lies of P keeps players at the brink of triumph, this most notorious NPC returns with his notorious flair to conclude the DLC, imparting a devilishly intricate experience akin to that of the Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne and Radahn from Shadow of the Erdtree.
Even his first phase proves taxing due to its escalating difficulty and speed, while the second phase propels the intensity further, challenging players to a point I thought insurmountable. Overcoming him was a culmination of heart-pounding moments after exploring numerous weapons and setups to withstand his sins.
Sure, perhaps my reluctance to summon Lea Monad contributed to the struggles I faced, but defeating Arlecchino solo stands as a treasured memory—one I hope to not repeat anytime soon.
