Ranking All Rails in Hyper Light Breaker

Ranking All Rails in Hyper Light Breaker

In the expansive universe of Hyper Light Breaker, the variety of weaponry adds depth to gameplay, particularly with the unique Rails. These weapons function on a battery system obtained through defeating enemies and securing random drops. Each Rail operates differently, depending on the type of gun you find.

This game features an eclectic mix of firearms including shotguns, unconventional lasers, and underwhelming pistols. To assist players in navigating these options, I’ve compiled a ranking of these ranged weapons based on their effectiveness at level 1.

It’s important to note that, as is often the case in roguelikes, there is no definitive measure of what is superior or inferior. The performance of each Rail can be enhanced with various modifiers, impacting aspects such as damage and firing rate. This list serves as a general guideline based on my experiences.

9 Radiant SG2

Worse Than a Laser Pointer

The Radiant SG2, with its tagline of “Low DMG, but the fastest fire rate, ”hardly lives up to expectations. While it technically has the speed, the damage output is disheartening, inflicting roughly 5 damage per second, making it ineffective against more challenging foes.

Engaging with smaller enemies becomes a tedious task, particularly against bosses who can quickly overwhelm you before you even dent their health. Ideally, weapons in Hyper Light Breaker should offer a reliable alternative when melee isn’t viable, but the SG2 disappointingly falls short.

8 Soldier’s Sidearm

Pitiful Performance

Accompanied by the default blade, the Soldier’s Sidearm leaves much to be desired. With mediocre fire rate and lackluster damage, you’ll find this gun only effective at keeping enemies at bay from a distance.

However, the moment foes close in, it becomes impractical, sometimes even registering zero damage, which is both amusing and disheartening for newcomers to gunplay. Its annoying recoil necessitates constant adjustments, cementing its low ranking on this list.

7 DZR

Clockwork Assault Rifle

Ascending slightly in effectiveness, the DZR fires three rounds rapidly. However, the damage remains lackluster, and while it has decent range and can help engage distant enemies, its kill potential isn’t particularly reliable.

With significant upgrades, it could become more effective, but even then, it likely won’t outperform many of its counterparts.

6 Magrex

Barely Functional, But Fun

The Magrex, categorized as a submachine gun, boasts a rapid-fire rate typical of machine guns, but its damage leaves much to be desired. The weapon’s recoil can make accuracy a challenge, often resulting in missed shots even with well-aligned aim.

However, despite its shortcomings, the Magrex can still deliver moderate damage when it connects, making it an enjoyable, albeit frustrating, choice.

5 Grind 42R

Bursting Out

The Grind 42R offers significant damage output akin to a shotgun but requires players to spend time charging between shots. Its compatibility with specific builds enhances its utility immensely.

Though its limited range and slow fire rate might undermine its effectiveness in some scenarios, it remains a strong contender for those willing to take risks for high damage.

4 Shredder

Cut Like Paper

The Shredder features a rapid fire rate and decent damage for a shotgun, though it operates with limited ammo (approximately four rounds). It excels in dispatching weaker enemies quickly before returning to melee.

Despite its range limitations, it remains a versatile weapon capable of handling most types of enemies effectively.

3 Blunderbuss

Bust It Out

Similar to other shotguns, the Blunderbuss struggles with distance but compensates with a broad spread of high-damage projectiles. Capable of delivering devastating hits at close range, it excels with its rapid-fire potential and limited reload time.

As a premier choice among shotguns, it successfully delivers substantial damage while minimizing exposure to danger.

2 Zaliska

The Power of the Sun

The Zaliska is a hand cannon that does not disappoint, firing large orbs capable of vanquishing most enemies with one or two shots. While it has a slower fire rate, its power and reasonable ammo capacity make it a formidable choice.

Adjusting the recoil is manageable, and with enhancements, it can become an impressive damage dealer in your arsenal.

1 Diamond Shot

Dust Your Enemies

Claiming the top spot, the Diamond Shot stands out as the most effective weapon, providing extensive range, a substantial spread shot, and impressive damage output.

Though it sacrifices some ammo and fire rate, these drawbacks pale in comparison to the substantial health reduction it inflicts with each shot, making it an essential asset for any player.

Using this weapon transforms the combat dynamics, as it effortlessly outperforms lesser options and ensures that you remain a formidable force on the battlefield.
